That was more a change in the Headcrab’s design. they made Headcrabs larger and thicker than those in HL1.

The Geiger Counter noise is made by the suit in response to radioactive or toxic hazards and has almost nothing to do with zombies other than the fact that for some reason toxic/radioactive compounds don’t seem to harm them…
Maybe it was the sip the zombies make while they are drinking the blood of their victims with drinking straws.
Hard to have rigor mortis without being dead.
This is probably a debate for a different thread, but none of the headcrabs’ human hosts are dead.
They reanimated. :mono:
Fast Zombies & Zombine exist. Your argument is invalid.
Yes it IS creepy to know that the human under headcrab control is still alive, but either way, I hate the noises the zombies make in HL2. They’re too “alive”, maybe the noises should be more groans and something more half-dead sounding. I don’t know what could be good, but all I can say is that in HL1, I never thought the zombies had a problem while in HL2 the sounds didn’t match. The screaming is annoying and it kinda hurts my ears in a way, especially when they’re burning, because it’s constant and pretty loud.
The Zombine, Fast Zombie and Poison Zombie noises are great in contrast, because they sound less human and they’re less constant. I especially loved the slow, choking breathing of the Poison Zombie, it was just horribly well done.
In HL1, the Zombie sounds were more “stupid” and animal-like, and maybe not zombie-ish enough.
The sounds shouldn’t have been reversed. People should have been able to here the screams and groans for help and relief of the pain.
Thank you.
Delicious.
That sounds awesome!!
Though I agree the original Half-Life’s zombies were creepier - they still give me goddamn nightmares sometimes - I don’t think they should just go with the HL1 style. HL2 did have some improvements, such as the screaming. Perfect for me would be the HL1 zombie design wise, with sounds and a bit more stumble like animation - not enough that they seem like drunks like in HL2, but enough that you can see that this body is forced to do that and is trying to resist. Not that it really matters anymore (probably) this far in development, but I have so much money I just leave a trail of two cents everywhere I go.
That would have been awesome.
i agree that the “alien controlled flesh puppet” zombie was better than the zombies that look like they had been stuck in an undersized box for a week. but i’ll go with whatever the dev’s trow at us
on a side note: i think they should make more (reversed) talking sounds to show their awareness like protesting when chasing you or even better, a relief when they die
I always thought that the sounds made by the zombies in HL1 were awful. I think that the second game did a much better job making them Zombies. In the first game, they sounded more like little alien animals than “alien controlled flesh puppets” - which is a great description of a HL2 zombie. They stumble, they moan and groan, they snarl when they see you, they smash at things to get at you - they ARE zombies. The sounds they make are inhuman enough that you don’t want to know how they are making that sound. Play Ravenholm at night, with headphones, with the contrast all the way down and tell me that you won’t jump in your chair at least once. The only problem in HL2 was the total lack of zombie diversity, one skin for each type of zombie, which has been addressed in BMS. If the devs have made the zombies sound more “juicy” I am more than pleased to hear it. I want to play BMS with my headphones at night, I want the dev’s zombies to scare me. That’s what makes these games fun.
I played through Ravenholm so many times that it doesn’t scare me anymore. :meh:
Let’s delete your memory about ravenholm and play it again, again, again, again, and again.
you really don’t know it, the zombine only has a skull without brain and the headcrab talks over his host communicator saying things like Biotics in the perimeter and the Fast zombie Is obviusly DEAD any1 could survive with the skull out and without 1 eye, also this happens for the black headcrab their host is completely dead, only the normal headcrab host seems to be alive, because is the only 1 wich can feel pain and do reversed sounds of pain. The possible cause of this is that the fast and the black headcrabs were COMBINE made and not NATURAL made. Also the cause the headcrab on the zombine has it’s victim dead is because he had to broke his helmet (and his skull with it) so he has the complete control over it.
Seconded…
