Fine, due to popular demand, I will take back what I said about NeoTokyo being similar to Counter-Strike. But it still not fun to play. You can’t even tell who is on your team sometimes. Not to say that it’s not well done for a mod, but it just does not fit my tastes, and I’m sure some others would agree as well.

Perhaps someone could insightfully explain why its so great, because It just seems too lackluster to me. My reasoning is that capture the flag type gameplay just doesn’t work when you combine it with round based gameplay. The only that keeps it from being a clone of CS, is the classes.

I have to say, for a mod that has been in production for FOUR YEARS, the gameplay feels like a blantant ripoff of CS, and it doesn’t even manage to pull that off well. In addition, it feels at times like the developers put all their bravado and energy in their flashier maps, and don’t even care that there are still sterile bleak looking abandoned cities with nothing but dim cars to remove the repetition of the roads. For a mod that received so much hype, I’m thoroughly disappointed.

That’s because you play it like CS. If you pulled your head out of your ass just a bit you’d see there’s an objective to do. Not just kill the other team. You’d also see you can make yourself invisible, lean on walls, use ironsights, use the ghost to see where the other team is, use thermo-vision to see stealth, chose your class and model, play with your team (and not go Rambo), use your mic when you ghost, flank, use stealth intelligently (not in a bright room or straight surface ) and much more.

Just so you know, I did do all those things. I just don’t like the mod. The servers I went on, hardly anyone actually went for the ghost, pretty much everyone was playing it like CS. I also feel like almost all the maps are a bitch to navigate.

After playing a few more hours, I realize its not a clone of CS. But honestly, I haven’t had this little fun playing a mod since Insurgency.

Ok guys, it’s not like CSS but it’s also nothing special.

This Mod owns you up the buttox. Nuff said. Ok, more. It’s pretty fun for a few hours… days… umm, endless fun. I’m just tired of the frekkin ONE game mode in it. Ghost. I want a Team Dethmatch or something! I hate it when i die and I’m waiting half a frekkin hour to rejoin. It’s frustrating. Even worse then Counter-Strike: Source. They better make an Update with a Deathmatch type game. Still, no way I’m going to play Neotokyo more than Black Mesa when it comes out though!! XD
