My Xbox can't go on live

I wish i could play MW2 on the PC, but My Video Card seems dated, and I can’t afford an upgrade. Besides, most of my friends in school believe that:
Xbox/PS3>PC
I’d rather Play CS/CSS over any pc game, but they’re all good, How can’t I deny that?

Like I said, I don’t know ANYTHING about networking other than making unsecure networks secure.

What Sersoft says be true.

Secure is good! But not all adapters are as standard as you may think. I’ve spent long enough pissing about with wireless devices (even with my belkin gaming adapter) to know the frustration the uninitiated must feel.

First thing I’ll ask is, did you reconfigure you’re madcatz device?
(if not that’ll be your problem)

If haven’t, find your installation cd (or download it) and reconfigure to match you settings!

What if your madcatz device doesn’t support WPA?

Set your router settings to WEP, and see if your Madcatz supports that.

If it doesn’t, you’re going to have to buy a new wireless device, or turn of the security on your network.

What if it does and your xbox still won’t connect?

Make sure you’re not in a mixed mode on your router. For some reason some devices do not support mixed WPA/WEP modes on a router (one of my PDAs doesn’t) so you’d have to go into pure WEP mode, not mixed WPA/WEP mode. I’d concentrate on getting the madcatz to connect, PCs will basically connect to anything.

If this doesn’t help, feel free to PM me, when I am more sober I will PM back and try and sort you out, if I can.

I’m just saying it’s likely you will still have the same problem after purchasing the new wireless adapter.

I agree totally, was just tryin to identify the problem he has wih his current device

UPDATE!
I managed to get the installation disk, I followed the steps and one step is to change the static IP on my computer. And modify something on the IP’s website. Problem is once i change the static IP, i will lose internet.

You don’t need to change to a static IP if your computer has internet.

I can’t really help much since I’ve never owned a 1st gen XBOX or used a madcatz wireless card.

Go into settings on your xbox and put in the password. It’s that simple.

To expand on this:
My Xbox --> System Settings --> Network Settings --> Wireless Settings

Find your network and select it
Input your passcode
Click ok.

It should just be that. Personally though I wouldn’t bother with anything Madcatz as I’ve found them to be highly unreliable and generally annoying. This is just me being nit-picky though.

Wait, is this a 360 or an original?

Who the hell would post their xbox quarrels on the black mesa forum. I’m thinking there’s probably about several hundred forums dedicated to this problem. Just like resetting your mac with a paperclip.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
