my tf2 drawnings (hand drawed on paper)

they’re terrible

and they need more chins

so they’re dogs? okay
of course you’re going to need to reference the actual tf2 characters from pictures, model viewers or whatever to get the proportions right, but you don’t start with the frame of a toaster to draw a spy. understanding how a human body is built, muscles bones facial structure and all that kind of helps when, you know, drawing humans

ok they arnt TERRIBLE… Terrible means the worst of the worst and this is not that bad…

THIS IS TERRIBLE! (not made by me):

and many of you guys are just like: ooooh we want uber detailed pictures like this(also not made by me -.-):

so dont say terrible ive seen better ones but this isnt the worst out there
so i know my pictures isnt uber detailed but better than the most tf2 drawings that is on the web… i even did some search on google and found many terrible pictures

so if you wanna be an ASS and say this is terrible. you are WRONG! :freeman:

its not the worst, its not the best, but its in the middle

Criticizing someones work is the best gift you can give them. You’ll see.

Now this is just a straight up lie.

Everyone that hates on Big Daddy P-Tonk’s hard boiled truth serum is obviously still suffering from its effects.

You act like it’s bad for the artist or something. He’s dematerialized my work to the max, and it certainly motivated me get my shit straight.

The characters do not have realistic anatomy, you are right, but they do have CONSISTENT anatomy. Just because the character you are drawing is stylized, doesn’t mean you should place the eyes where the fuck you want.

Look, if there are multiple people chiming in to say that these aren’t good, maybe, just MAYBE it is what the sincerely think.

You are definitely not intermediate. You need a lot of work. I recommended reading and doing the exercises in this book:
https://www.scribd.com/doc/17395096/The-New-Drawing-on-the-Right-Side-of-the-Brain

If you want to negate everything I just said by saying stuff akin to " I JUST DRAW FOR FUN I DON’T WANT TO BE GOOD", then be prepared to this kind of stuff whenever you post your shit anywhere.

for professional artists this may be terrible for them but let me see one of you guys draw this pictures on paper not digitally. digitally can be a lot more easy than doing it on paper because you got all those fancy tools… especially for those people that have a drawing table.

thanks for the book tip btw, looks interesting

Good drawings!

You will eventually learn that 1/100 people on this forum arent assholes.

shattap you asshole

What Patonki is saying isn’t entirely true, though it holds up a lot of reason. You are drawing what you see but ur just doin it wrong. Drawing human faces is a very complex exercise as it requires you to know proportions, anatomy, all of that stuff. I can clearly see the problem with the halved head in your medic drawing, for example.

See you’re drawing what you think you’re seeing but not what’s actually there. We perceive human faces as something very important so our brains are prone to giving extra attention to them. In result, you end up looking at medic’s face and taking extra time (and space) to draw the chin, nose and eyes while completely disregarding the forehead. This results in a somewhat derpy looking face that neither achieves likeness, nor does it abide by the human head’s most basic structural rules (e.g. eye level is always at the middle of the head). The cut-off top of the head is a very common beginner’s mistake but it can be corrected with the right exercises. To sum it up from the above example, you really have a problem with proportion, though don’t worry, most people that attempt drawing face this adversary. I double-recommend “The New Drawing on The Right Side of The Brain”, the book that Patonki posted a link of.

As for all the people in this thread telling you they are good, don’t believe them. Overall the drawings are bad and anyone not being a soccer mom who’s too afraid they might hurt your feelings will have the decency to tell you so. Drawing is not magic. You don’t start inking those lines like a pro from your 3rd try. You have to suck first, and suck a lot. The key is you acknowledge that and try improve your drawing abilities. If you don’t, and keep with the borderline-butthurt they-are-okay-for-what-they-are attitude, you’re destined to fail.

And pro-tip: Drawing digitally is oftentimes harder than pen and paper. The two mediums are vastly different so I don’t believe you’re in your right to even compare them.

Ontopic drawings of tf2 on paper there you go:

Confirmed for truth.

10 minute tablet work represent

I thought they were ok.

Until I realized they’re the ones from TF2 startup/old menu. Once I had something to compare them too… Ehh…

Plus you should rely on your own talent and artistic vision in sketches rather than attempting to mimic another artist.

wow this thread gets kinda educational sometimes :stuck_out_tongue:
and i like it!

Heheh I can see you’ve read DotRSotB.

ok i actually lol’d on this one hahaha

17 minutes :3

Probably shoulda liquified the fuck outa it to fix proportions, but I don’t give a fuck.

Also, everyone check out SAI paint tool. It’s fucking awesome.

Not bad at all.

You do need to work on the shading a bit, however.

No shit. I did it in 17 minutes to…

I don’t even fucking know why…
