My take on what I think the Alien Grunt should look like.

i didn’t get around to really finishing the armor (i didn’t add the feet/shin/helmet sections). i did use the combine dropship for the armor pads. figured a sort of synth armor would kind of make sense since they were pretty much made in factories?

anyway, i would like your feedback and suggestions. even if the devs go over this unnoticed i still want to make it a solid design.

Wow, looks fantastic! Love the design, looks a lot more like the Vorts and Controllers, which I feel is great, personally. Only suggestions I would have are that he has a distinct lack of a neck, and the angle at which his legs are bent is a little extreme, seems like it would be pretty difficult to support himself and a bit awkward to run. His thighs are also a bit large in comparison to his torso

Also… Hey MenteR… Been a while[/size]

As I said over on Facepunch, looks pretty good to me. With the armor, keep in mind there is the one stripped grunt at the start of QE, so a version without much/any of it would still be well worth seeing.

Looks like something out of South Park

Ok, this is damn cool!
I really, really like the more organic armor (fits with Xen’s commitment to organic technology in a way the BM design never did) and the more clearly Vortlike head structure- the lack of neck is a small price to pay for that.

One thing that immediately jumps out to me is the chest armor, which would restrict the movement of the center arm in a very weird and uncomfortable fashion. Maybe replace part of the center section with a “sleeve”?

good idea, i’ll try that.

Holy… !!!

That looks really cool, man! And he even resembles vortigaunts a bit… he looks more Xen-ish now
As someone said here earlier, the armor is more natural and organic.
Can you draw the same A-grunt, but armed with hivehand, please? o.o I would like to see your image of this organic weapon too

I love those new proportions, man. Also, good to see you on the BM forums.

Wait a sec… aren’t you the “menter” who’s working on the Opposing Force 2 mod, are you? … Or am I just mistaken? o.o

Awesome! If you could make a model of this, I’d love to see it on the workshop!

^ This!

yes, the mod’s development is halted though, as it says in the moddb page.

i plan on doing that yeah

Gordon cannot kick him in the balls either, but it’s very well done!

Ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease…

Iiiiiii knew iiiiiiiiit O___o …

And yes, I know about the situation with the mod … and according to some information, you’re still working on it in your free time to be playable, but just without updating the progress status on moddb page … but it’s ok  … you have reasons for that … still though … your A-grunt is amazing

alright guys here’s a really synth-ish version of the armor. i’ll work on a metallic variant that looks more like the hl1 one now.

also early test with a hunter sort of irisdescent armor

Hmm, the textures look extremely good and I’m digging the shinguards/boots, but I’m not quite sure about those slotted shoulder pieces. The armor still looks very organic, especially with that second texture (reminds me of a beetle carapace, I think you should go with the green for Vort continuity), but those slots add a mechanical regularity to it that I’m not 100% sure should be there. This is still unbelievable awesome, but if you’re experimenting around still I’d suggest trying the same armor shape without the slots.
