MY GRAPHICS CARD TEMPATURE 0_o

Ok since everyone (including OP) forgot how to have a proper tech problem thread, let me put you back on track.

First of all, what model is your graphics card? Is it single slot or double slot?

With Ati, all you need is the Catalyst control panel, you should be able to control the fan from the overclocking menu (don’t try to overclock though as it will most definitely kill your card)…

If you’ve got an Nvidia graphics card, I’m pretty sure you need a program like rivatuner or nTune to control the fan speed. Either way, when you’re gaming, you can safely set the fan on 100% to save your card from burning down.

Have you ever opened your computer before? If not, turn it off, remove the panel on the left side, remove the graphics card and try to remove as much dust from the fan as you can.

Put the card back (don’t close your computer) and try to play a game. If you continue to get high temps, you should buy a new cooler+fan assembly for your GPU, just make sure it’s compatible, they’re not all the same.

Just keeping your computer open will cool down the temperature inside, the only downside is the ugly look, but honestly who cares?

You could also open one of the sides of your computer, as sersoft said, and put a fan next to it. This worked for me a while back when I was having temperature problems until I could get a new card.

My computer was peaking at 117-FUCKING-DEGREES-CELSIUS AND KEPT CRASHING CUZ IT WAS OVER-HEATING :fffuuu:

but I took off a side, brushed some dust off and now it peaks at about 80C :awesome:

sometimes the metal montior plug thing at the side of myt laptop burns my hand its probably not a good thing

Laptops are always hot, especially nvidia powered laptops.

My xps m1530 is never excessively hot unless I wrap it in bubble wrap and blankets.

I head Ion laptops aren’t that much hot tho.

Sounds like a bug in the software you are using… I doubt your card would go up that high without freezing the whole PC. There are bugs in some CPU and GPU temp sensor apps and there have even been bugs in some BIOS firmwares. It is probably the way it is read and converted, someone had bad math skillz. Next time try other apps and see if they all give you the same reading…

Err, if it was at 201 in the first place, how the hell did it survive? Maybe its a temp error. Turn off your computer, take out your graphics card, remove the heat sinks and feel around if it really is that hot.

Feel around? Nice burns on your hands you have there…
.

Sorry, shouldn’t have posted :retard:

You damn right > :frowning:

If you have the new NVIDIA 196.75 drivers and your graphics card got uncomformably hot, it’s most likely a bug in the drivers which causes fans to not function properly. Solution is to downgrade.

201 Fahrenheit, how much is that in real money?

You guys know the OP is banned and isn’t reading your replies, right?

Just noticed this. It could be the reason.

We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our website. Thanks, and stay tuned for updates.2 minutes ago
