I think this thread is a good place for me to post this:
Learning to fingerpick accurately is proving to be a huge pain in the ass.
It generally is.
I fingerpick with the broad side of my nails, sounds weird, but it works for me.
I’ll give that a try. I suppose just like everything else on guitar, it takes an assload of practice.
Though I just trimmed my fingernails last night, so even with the broad side of them, that’d still be a bit awkward. I can’t stand playing with long nails, vibrato-ing usually ends up with me scratching the fretboard.
I used to just trim my fret hand and leave the nails on my pick hand longer, but I don’t really play enough anymore to make it worthwhile.
I usually play drums for a few hours during the day, and play guitar during the night. I suppose this is a pretty rare exception. I usually play about 2-3 hours each a day.
