Music

Okay we have a thread for dumping what you are listening than nobody reads, so how about one for music discussion?

It’s time for a

Your favorite band sucks.

Nirvana was the last innovation in the mainstream world, 'nuff said.

:expressionless:

:hmph:

FFFFUUUUUUUU-

Pretty much, yeah.

lol wat

not saying Nirvana didn’t make good music, but it was hardly very innovative, and there’s been a lot more innovative music since

Coldplay, fgts.

My sister once described Coldplay the best way possible:
"You listen to Coldplay, and you think ‘This isn’t at all good, why am I listening to it?!?’, but find yourself unable to turn it off."
My favourite band has settled on Manchester Orchestra.
good example songs:* I Can Barely Breathe (note: 15 seconds cannot summarize it)

 • Shake It Out (more mainstream than normal, but I like the video)

I originally downloaded their work with the usual pretense of sampling it, but decided very soon after listening that I needed the real things for playing in the car, which made them the only CD albums I’ve bought since well before DVDs existed.

I’d listen to the radio, but the radio’s full of shit compared to them, not sure how the stations manage to broadcast so much crap. The only decent music that comes on FM is either Beatles or System of a Down if the jockey is feeling generous.

My favourite musician/group of musicians at the moment is probably The Cure. They’re just fucking brilliant.

I like Morrisey, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Was (Not Was), Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, and White Zombie.

I also enjoy Black-people music and Lady GaGa.

In other news, which type of audio compression/codec do you use?
Do you use something lossy like mp3, or maybe something like ?
Personally I quite like .

72.4% Monkeys Audio, 27.3% MP3, 0.2% WMA :awesome:

I use Flac sometimes. most times it’s just mp3 at 320kbps, though.

256kbps AAC, because that’s what iTunes gives me when I download songs or import a CD (+ a bunch of .mp3 files I still had from when I had a PC… I should import them again, since they’re most likely 128kbps)

If they’re 128kbps it won’t sound any better if it’s converted to 256kbps. It’s impossible to regain quality in a lossy format. Unless that’s not what you meant.

Loss-less > lossy though

Nono, I meant that I would just grab the CDs I have and import them again in iTunes, instead of using CDEx in Windows to rip them to 128kbps MP3.

I like Flac, sounds better on the highs with speakers.

Exact Audio Copy is your best bet if you’re concerned about quality

and then this became the codec thread. nice work guys…

also I’m a trance faggot.
