Music of Black Mesa Source

I think that the music that should be put in BM:S should really tie into the style that Valve has used for the HL series. For example, in HL2 Eps 2, the part after where you first confront an observer or whatever they’re called, the music that was set for when you were fighting the combine was really good. Like it wanted me to kick some combine ass but while jamming out.

I sampled some of your guys’ music while searchin through the site and yeah it’s good, but I downloaded the HiRes version of HL2 before where it amped up the graphics of HL2 and also changed the music to Batman Begins which was nice. It synced up and went right through the game, but I do love the music from Valve. I’ve been tempted to buy the songs off itunes for HL2 Eps 2 even though they’re like a few minutes or shorter.

So, final thought, try and change some of the music for BM:S so it feels really in tune and make me wanna bob my head at the same time at points

General consensus: Joel Nielson is a god and should never be questioned.

Well I’m not contradicting him, I’m just saying I like how all the music blends together in the HL games, even HL Source, which at times made me bob my head even though it’s old

I didn’t say contradict, I said question. You’re questioning his abilities :hmph:

^this, joe nielsen is perfect for the job, and the music is half-life-esque. period.

Sorry if I’m questioning him, never heard his work that much

I’m super pumped to hear Joel’s complete soundtrack

Well maybe you should actually listen to it before complaining, you’ll find it is very much in the spirit of HL.

And after all, if you still not liking the music, you can change it anyway…

Am I right in thinking that the suggestion is to completely change the music? Seems like kind of waste of time.

It’s Nielsen. Even the devs made a typo (or maybe it wasn’t) on the description of one of their video on youtube.

Also, HE IS AWESOME. And the BM soundtrack will be AWESOME, too.

Why do I think of this guy?

Be completely sure about that.

You’ll be pleased to know that I’m building my own soundtrack for the mod that will be more … upbeat, which is what I think you were asking for.

Sorry about complainin, been waiting for this mod to come out for a while now. On another subject, was some of the making of the levels for BM created with TF2 styles? Because some of the pictures I’ve seen look like TF2 style of graphics

Uuh no. You’re maybe talking about an old news that has been posted on the website 2 or 3 years ago, but that was just a test.

EDIT: here is a picture for those who don’t know what I’m talking about:

No.

Well when I look at some of the pictures, it seems like it has the TF2 atmosphere. I know that pretty much most of the levels are off of HL2 Eps 2 graphics engine. Btw that picture, I know they’ve tweaked the engine and graphics for TF2 recently and they look really awesome, is that an older picture with full settings and everything maxed?

It was an April fool’s joke made back in 2008. They stated they were bought by EA and are going to release the mod with these graphics + Episodic delivery.

Good times…

Like this picture, I’ve seen that from TF2 before so is some of the stuff from TF2 also used for BMS?
