I must admit I’ve always had my hopes held for early Fall since the trailer came out. I can respect an honorary release of the same date as the original Half Life, but beyond that is rather annoying, and into 2010 is absolutely unacceptable.
Around now is the stage of anticipation for me, where I become excited as well as grievously impatient for the release. And this ONLY happens once I have a stated time in my brain, even if it’s something as vague as “2009”.
If however this spills over into a release-delay, I have to be honest that I’ll be extremely disappointed, as I would for ANY delay, even for a Valve product.
Now normally, as far as mods go, it matters little to me if there’s an overshoot, because after all it’s a community product, but Black Mesa Source has shown me it has high, professional standards, and so I feel obligated to hold it to that standard.
And it’s really not that I don’t sympathize with the makers if they need more time. Within reason, take as much time as you need, but keep those details under wraps until you’re certain. And once you ARE certain, you let the public know your projected date of release. But delaying AFTER informing the public, to me, is very bad form.
I still have confidence that BMS will honor this promise though.

Yeah but they never said that they went by any ‘code of honor.’ If they want to break their promise to the public that’s totally their choice. Nothing we can do about it. Just sit with it. It’s a free mod, it’ll be released when it’s released. Which may not be this year. No biggie.
