Ehm, they discovered these fossils in 2008.
Then I was wrong and should’ve looked at the date. But I still think it probably isn’t THE missing link.
“THE” missing link does not exist. For every fossil showing a transition between humans and earlier apes there are two more “missing links.”
It’s true. The missing link between 1 and 10 is 5. But that opens two missing links between 1 and 5 and 5 and 10. So, you find 3.5 and 7.5. But now that opens FOUR missing links (1 and 3.5, 3.5 and 5, 5 and 7.5, and 7.5 and 10). And so on and so forth. Eventually, you’ll be looking for the “missing link” between parent and child.
The article even refutes claims that it would be a missing link. The fossil is younger than some hominids.
This is closer to a missing link.
Evolution is a series of random mutations that accidentally benefit the species.
You know… the problem with articles like this, is that they use the term “Missing link” - What missing link? What exactly is missing? The smoking gun that is the final word on Humans desending from a common ancestor where both apes and humans split from an evolutionary common? What kind of nonsense is that? The evidence is beyond robust already. It is beyond any credible scientific scrutiny. (Other than, if there are minor corrections that need to be made - which speaks well of science, because they are always after the facts)
How much evidence needs to be collected before this nonsense stops? They are ALL missing links. Every damn one of them. It merely depends on where you look in the time line, and which branch.
There is enough confusioin with this issue already, without the media adding to it. The goofy part, is the next find, will be hailed as the missing link… How many missing links are there exacty?
Would it not be better to say “Another fossil has been found that fits nicely into the already robust evidence that we have concerning human evolution”. But NNNNNoooooooooooo the Dumb-ass media has to go for contraversial angle, thus prolonging the confusion.
What missing link?
Wow, that was a fantastic article - - thumbs up, for anyone who hasn’t read it yet.
