Minecraft

there is still people on the server, i think, but never when i am there :stuck_out_tongue: also it’s buggy as hell

Minecraft needs a listen server ability but invite or friends-list only.

That’s actually a pretty great idea. I normally hate listen servers but just hanging around building with only your friends would be nice.

Minecraft just needs a chat system like MMOs with different channels for the maps you are on per server or rank, and I’d like parties that told you the direction your friends are in, maybe even guilds or something of the like, because people try to form towns and factions together all the time.

Plenty of servers have mods that do such.

Best MC server I’ve ever played on community/mod wise.

Redstone and redstone torches are used with a powered minecart track system. I just dropped a few miles in my diamond mines so that I can travel from one dig site to another without too much hassle.

Tip: Do not break the minecart you are traveling in unless you have to. You drop down a bock when you do that, and if there is only one block between you and lava you will die and lose all of your items. I speak from experience…

God damnit, I thought they had finally fixed the black screen crash in 1.5…

Has anyone ever gotten a bug where minecarts replicate along a track when you load the game? I’ve got about five large chests full of these duplicate minecarts right now. I wish I could smelt them back down into iron.

It happens on both of my nvidia computers but not my ati… Coincidence?

Bring your render distance down from Far to Normal. It fixed it for me. From what I’ve been reading it’s due to Minecraft trying to access more memory than Notch has coded MC to be allocated, causing the engine to crash.

I’m not allowed to apply any texture packs ever since the patch, very annoying!

So what did you guys think of notch trying to make people pay to get the right to mod? (along with him reserving the right to take your mod and put it in the game)

I don’t really care, as long as it allows for great mod support without incompatibility issues and complicated installs.

He never said he was going to make people pay to mod, he was trying to find a way to make sure no one would make money off of his work, and rightfully so.

EDIT: Posted on his twitter today: "Because of overwhelming feedback, the cost of the mod api access will be 0 dollars.

Our intention wasn’t to make money off selling the access, only to ensure some level of quality. Obviously that wasn’t the most popular idea in the world.

Can I go back to working on the maps now?"

From his blog.

Also charging people for money is not a means, it is an end.

I like how you skipped over my edit. :expressionless:

No I read that twitter post before you did, hence the use of past tense in the original.

Each and every “official” mod should go through a rigorous control quality test by Mojang themselves.

I wouldn’t mind having less mods, as long as they are all high quality.

notch seems way in over his head idont think that dude has any fuckin idea what he’s doin anymore

From the sounds of the this whole “we might want to buy mods and implement them” I think Mojang is going to try to push the actual work of making Minecraft better off on modders.
