Meet the Guy Who Leaked HL2

Axel Gembe, the German kid who managed to get the HL2 source code from Valve in 2003, is hosting a question and answer on reddit. The discussion’s already been pretty interesting, but I think he’s still taking questions if any of you have any.

"I actually had the full Steam (I think it was still called Gazelle back then), VAC and GoldSrc code. I’m glad I never shared that. I also had all the assets to the old TF2. I would have liked to see that game.

I still think that the game was just not complete, and I’m glad they didn’t rush it."

:expressionless:

if he was craving for attention he certainly got his wish when the cops showed up to get him out of bed

I’m going to use inspiration from comments for the recent Crysis 2 leak on Kotaku. “Fucking leaking assholes”

This man is a dried up asshole which is no longer fucking.

Can I kick him in the dick?

He may be a dick, but he is talented non the less.

Either this or Valve is just very stupid

Nah, valve arn’t stupid, every system has its flaws and exploits will always be found. It just somtimes takes a bit of thinking to find these exploits.

Coincidence, I just read this yesterday. Quite interesting, give it a read.

definitely worth a read

Gembe says that Eurogamer twisted it in quite a few places.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
