Lump 53

On loading some maps, my game would crash and I’d get the “Can’t load lump 53. Allocation of XXXXXXXXX bytes failed.” I’d reload the game and it’d let me load the map and continue. Is there anything I can do? I wasn’t able to download the .exe installer, so I just extracted the .7z and moved the extracted files to a folder in steamapps/sourcemods called “Black Mesa.”

Also, my game freezes up occasionally and I have to exit the game with the task manager. There are 4 .mdmp files that I’m attaching to this post. Any advice on either issue would be appreciated.

The lump failure message only seems to show up when I’m in 1280x768 resolution and the other crash only seems to happen when I’m in 1366x768, my computer’s resolution.

What kind of GPU do you have, and how much video memory?

Also I would recommend exting other running programs when running Black Mesa if it is physical RAM you are running out of. Also open the System Control Panel and be sure your virtual memory is turned on.

Just makes sure it isn’t all "None"s like in this screenshot (actually mine has one entry that isn’t but you can’t see it).

My graphics card is Intel HD Graphics 3000. If I’m checking it right, I have 1696 MB of video memory. In the Virtual Memory window it says “System managed” for C: and “None” for Q:. Those are the only two in that window.

Crashing is a recurring issue for my computer on almost all Source engine games, except for TF2. HL2, EP1, EP2, Portal 1 and 2, any HL2 mod, and any Portal 2 custom map all crash without warning at random times. I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong or if Source just hates my computer. I’m just getting really tired of Black Mesa crashing literally every 5 minutes. I’m attaching a couple more .mdmp files from today.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
