But aren’t the assassins and grunts in the same team in BM? Anyways, it’s really easy to edit textures, I think you can do it with paint lol.
I don’t know how to do textures but I know (or was told) you need photoshop. Beyond that I’m clueless.
Anyway, in BM, Vortigaunts and Zombies ignore each other. HECU Soldiers and Barnables ignore each other. Just because they’re not scripted to combat each other doesn’t mean they’re allies, especially with Hgrunts and Assassins, which never meet each other in game.
You need .vtf plugin for photoshop.
No you don’t. You need VTFEdit. Then you can export/import stuff at will and use any image editing program.
Hell, if you export the VTF to a PNG or BMP, you can use paint if you’d like.
Not sure why you’d want to, but you could.
Yep. In fact, my first skins were made in Paint. They were skins for Half-Life 1 and looked terrible. Then I moved onto Paint.net and the skins got better, (some are actually working pretty well) but overall Photoshop is your best bet. Paint.net can make things presentable with enough practice and luck, but Photoshop is where things are going to come out much better.
Look at the AI the Tripmine studios (creators of Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty) has developed for the HECU. I know that the last thing people want is a delay due to the overhaul of the HECU AI, but it would be interesting if the Black Mesa team were to do something similar. After all, tactical gameplay that is offered through this AI seems a lot more fun than what we have now for the HECU AI.
Wow, that’s just amazing! Especially the grenade backthrow.
I was just thinking of that. As amazing as that would be, I feel that would never happen.
Now THAT was how the grunts should’ve behaved.
it would be cool if there could be a super mod that combines all the best bits from black mesa and tripmine, but it will probably never happen
Not without dem source codes.
Which we will never get.
It may happen. James Kane and some others are interested in releasing the source code. They might as well, Black Mesa can become an even better mod if they did that.
Oh, I thought that was only to certain modders who wanted to make a mod of BM, rather than modify BM. And that was just something I assumed, not something I actually read.
We’d still need OBM’s source code though.
Wow, that looks really incredible. That’s how they should be in the game, not the currently poor AI iteration (with all respect to the BM team, I’m sorry but it’s shocking).
I don’t like how the grunts will run up to the player and stay there while they empty rounds into you, the grunts know that Freeman is armed and dangerous, so they should be hiding and shooting from behind cover whenever they can
In BM, the commanders are like just special type of hgrunts that wear different gear but still like an ordinary hgrunts. Theirs really signify that they really are leaders by giving commands by hand signals.
Also I like what they did to the houndeyes. No offense but in BM, they may be in packs but they still act like individuals.
Yeah but Gordon dies very easily when you have a whole squad unloading on him at once. Gordon’s advantage is supposed to be his intelligence, singling out targets, or ambushing them, etc. They probably know that the HEV will fail if they put enough fire into it.
Honestly, if the Grunts acted like this in WGH, I’d need a new strategy to deal with them. My current one pretty much plays on the fact that they don’t support each other very well and like to bunch up in doorways whilst ignoring live grenades at their feet.
You mean they really act like soldiers at first but at the end they know they’re losing they make a desperate attack?
I wouldn’t like any unnecessary delays any longer. Making good AI is easier said than done.
According to the wiki, BM’s programmers also added a feature that the marines can throw grenades back but removed due to realism.
