Lighting drop off

I start up a single player game and the lighting is fine for about 2 seconds until it fades off into almost nothing. I tried the fix in the pinned discussion but it did not work. anything else I could try?

Where are your PC specs. eh?

You’re obviously not running the game on fairy dust.

intel core i7 processor, 8G ram, AMD Radion graphics card (I believe) R5 M335, i am running off a laptop.

Try reinstalling the game then.

reinstalled and had the same problem but i did some jumping around though different chapters and it seem only to do it about halfway through “Unforeseen Consequences” ill need to do some more checking around but it seems that is only time it does it.

Could you upload a save of it when it happens? To see if it’s your machine or if it’s the map.
The saves should be in:
steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms\save

Which you easiest get to by right clicking the game on steam, properties, local files, browse local files…

well apparently i either cant upload because of an unknown error or it says the file type is unsupported, ill try again in a few hours might be the internet but i don’t think it is .

This is a known issue, no need to upload a picture or anything else.
Here is the fix and link.

To Fix The Over Darkening Issue
Type the following two commands into console

mat_hdr_level 2
mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil 1
