Last Film You Saw

I never said it was good planning on the writers part. I said it could be argued that he planned ahead. I’m not going to argue either way though. These movies always have a contrivance that could break immersion for someone that cares. I’m going to overlook them right now though, because I don’t care :stuck_out_tongue:

Just finished The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. One thing bugged me though: Where the hell did Thorin get his “shield” at the end ? I don’t recall seeing him carrying it around the entire movie, but then suddenly it pops out of nowhere.

He wasn’t carrying it. It’s just a branch. There were trees around. He picked it up. It’s just supposed to be a call-back to when he fought the White Goblin years ago, a sort of “oh snap he’s doing it again” thing. Even though it was underwhelming (at least from his perspective, he got beat pretty bad this time).

(I would have black-texted it but it doesn’t work on links.)

Well, I went back and as far as I can tell he’s using the same branch he got back at the Moria, except it’s even been carved in and fitted with straps and stuff and reinforced to make it a proper shield:

But apparently he’s carrying it on his back, though I’ve yet to spot it.

Slap Shot.

One of the best sports related movies I’ve seen so far.

It is the best sport movie. Ever.

Sports movie are weird. They’re a form of entertainment about a form of entertainment that’s arisen from watching people play a game, which itself is a form of entertainment.

A lot of them are supposed to be inspirational tales and such.

Probably the only sports movie I found worth watching was “Miracle.” Hockey is a very intense sport, and the way they filmed the hockey sequences (angles from cameramen on skates following players or the puck for an “in-the-trenches” perspective) was what made the movie so much fun to watch.

It must have been a lot of fun to edit the hundreds of hours of footage they shot for the hockey sequences.

disney made a pretty good documentary about that jamaican bobsled team

I don’t think you two have seen Slap Shot haha.

My parents used to own that movie on VHS when I was a kid.

Hmm, I guess you’re right then. I don’t recall seeing him have it at any point up until the end either.

Dredd

I’ve never read the comics or seen the other movie but I really liked this. It apparently bombed in theatres but is getting pretty good DVD and Bluray sales so I hope that they make another one. Some of the CGI looked pretty bad, and it needed more slowmo shootouts though.

Watched Minority Report for the first time. Was not disappointed.

Snow White and the Huntsman. I didn’t really care for it.

i saw prometheus but i kept falling asleep. not cuz of the movie iwas mad tired but the bits i saw seemed cool anyway.

i feel like i watched a movie this morning actually but i cant for the life of me remember what

Don’t watch the other movie, but read the comics. You will not regret it.

nno do watch it that movie is rad in a really shitty 90s kind of way.

Shitty 90’s action movies are the best.

totes. the only worthwhile action movies since the millenium are cracnk and crank 2.
