Last Film You Saw

The Wolverine was way better than I had expected.

I enjoyed it a lot. About as much as I thought I would. A solid 8/10, maybe better. Need to see it again (not in theaters though). Just the right amounts of action and drama.

I thought they left it open to a sequel very well with his son.

Pacific Rim.

It was amazing.

The movie is to the giant mecha genre as Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is to pulp fiction novels; not a gritty reboot or a ‘modern’, darker & edgier take on a classic, but a straight up homage. It played all the genre tropes straight, and I thought it was awesome.

Oh, and the cockpit voice was definitely GLaDOS.

Oh, it was actually literally GLaODS:

Saw the wolverine with a couple of friends. Was surprisingly good.

One of my dumbass friends doesn’t like it, but I’m pretty sure it’s because he doesn’t like Japanese people.

I loved the train action scene.

Yeah, it was probably the best traintop fight scene I’ve ever seen.

The fight scenes in this movie were almost comparable to the tighness of actual full on kung fu movies. The choreography was tiiiiight.

One point someone made though was [COLOR=‘Black’]How after he removed the insect thing was he being stabbed all the way through with normal weapons by Mariko’s father? Did they forget he had an adamantium skeleton, or did they really want us to think the guy was that accurate as to stab precisely in between his bones

That doesn’t really bother me though

Most swords aren’t going to slice bones in that situation in the first place, so any time you see someone getting stabbed like that you should be wondering how accurate the stabber is to be missing all those bones

he was that accurate, that was his whole deal. Plus the blade could have just slid off of all the bone.

Just saw Wolverine tonight. Not bad, it’s about as good as I thought it would be. Better than Origins and X3, not as good as X1/X2. My nitpicks would mainly be that it was a bit too long for my taste, and was it just me or was [color=’#151515’]Mariko acting kind of really suspicious the whole time? Maybe I just couldn’t get a good read on her but I kept expecting her to be working with the Yakuza. Overall worth seeing at least once in theaters. 7/10

I’ll never understand people who think movies are too long. Movies are generally not that interesting unless there’s enough content to suffocate in a box 2.3 hours deep

Red 2 this evening. It’s was ok I give it a 7.5-8/10. I liked it haha

Not sure if joking, but even good movies are totally capable of overstaying their welcome, man. I didn’t need to see 30 minutes of crying hobbits to understand that Return of the King was over and the good guys won, or an hour of nightmare bugs and T-Rex fights to get that King Kong’s island was a dangerous place.

Also watched Hot Rod again the other day. Although it actually has more of a plot than Napoleon Dynamite, it’s just as weird and hilarious IMO.

Saw Wolverine yesterday. Was definitely better than Origins and X2-3. Had a good flow and I actually enjoyed the Japanese setting.

2 things I noticed:

  • Logan’s chop-sticks magically stood upright again at the end of the conversation
  • Why didn’t his hair grow back mere seconds after it was cut in Japan, but it did grow back moments after being burned by the nuke?

Watched X2 again because of the wolverine, and because for some reason I’ve only ever seen parts of it. I liked it a lot.

Even though I knew it already, it’s still funny seeing David Hayter’s name in the credits.

Why?

You know that where the movie ends, the book was only half over?

Well, the movie killed off Saruman a lot earlier than the book does. In the movie, he gets backstabbed off his tower, and in the book, he invades the Shire with some Uruk-Hai or something. However, in both cases, he gets killed by one of his own men.

Chernobyl Diaries.

I don’t know why I keep watching this kind of horror movies. A movie where everything is so dark so you can’t see shit and all the “scary” parts involve jump scares. Freaking cheap way to scare people that doesn’t work on me anymore. You grow pretty tired of this shit when you’ve seen it in every single horror movie since the dawn of moving pictures.

A couple of guys and girls spend some time in Pripyat and get stuck there because the van breaks down. The first night their guide tells them to stay in the van and they’ll be safe, only to moments later go out by himself and get killed. Then they run around in dark tunnels and get attacked by dogs, mutated humans and fucking bears. It ends when 2 of them somehow ends up in the Chernobyl reactor, manage to get outside and the guy gets shot by the military. The girl is later killed by being thrown into a room filled with mutated humans because “She knows, she’ve seen them. We can’t let her live.”. Concluding the movie with everyone dying.
