Large fan in Blast Pit

Know that huge fan you turn on and when it reaches full speed the force it generates sends you up to the roof?

Everytime I activate it, the game crashes(to desktop) just before the fan reaches full speed. I suppose I can no clip to the top and bypass running the fan all together, but that hurts my OCD
