Laptop Suggestions

What’s wrong with Acer? I helped my dad choose his laptop and the best deal was an Acer Gateway, it has 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a 2.2Ghz Athlon x2 processor, a Radeon 4570M video card (which will play any game at medium settings) and a HDMI port.

I imagine he’s referencing the recent results for laptop manufacturer quality and life expectancy, which put those companies near the bottom.

They’ve not stopped that.
So you’ve never had issues with shoddy manufacturing quality, overpricing and them giving you electric shocks(special with the new laptops!)? Well done, you haven’t bought a new computer from Dell in two years.
Although, this is just my experience with the Inspiron line; my ancient Latitude CPt is awesome.

Yeah I know about the Inspirons, the cooling for the hard drive is horrible.
2 Hard drives fried in mine (there were no vents). So I took everything apart and modded the case, then put it back together, now it works at 35C and under (no more problems).

i had this problem, then i wanted a desktop, then i didnt know i got annoyed and then never got one lol. bought a new tv and another 360.

My brother’s had an acer for about 5 years now and its never gone wrong. I’ve had one for 2 years, but its mainly for work. I’m a student, so have lots of work and no money. So I use a 360 for gaming runs

Laptops aren’t great for gaming. Plus, as Level and Door said, they’re not meant to be used as a main system. You should really go for a better desktop and then eventually buy a laptop PC, if you really want to.

I have, in fact, been electrically shocked by my dell laptop, I kinda liked it.

It was a latitude D620 with a core 2 duo T7600 and 250gb hdd

The build quality seemed better than most other laptops I’ve seen though.

I also have a cpi with a 450mhz pentium II that’s still the most durable laptop I’ve ever seen, the damn battery still lasts 2 hours after 8 years of use.
