"Lambda" A mini series set in the HL universe

So far it is planned that the series will take place in the outskirts of City 17, and is during the Pre-Freeman era where the resistance is still young.

We have recently filmed a “Teaser” for Part 2 of Lambda!

Unlike the Teaser for Part 1 this one doesn’t follow the story set for Part 2 which will have dialogue and character development! We are still far from finishing Part 2 (thus why the masks are still sub par), but this quick scene was more to showcase some new items we have (In this case the Crossbow and Medic Outfit) but don’t worry there’s more waiting to be unveiled for the final release.

hehe

Looks quite great, good luck on filming!

I want that crossbow.

Looks good. Love the animation on the blood. Looks really real ya know…

And the combine voice chatter. SHIT BANG. God I love that sound. :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, the combine look like dolls. Bright and full of love.

EDIT: Oops. Didn’t realize that the first page went by already… damn… anyways, second one looks good too! And was that Combine taking a piss? I didn’t even realize they could do that

And it seems like you fixed up the combines colors. They look much more solid now.

[Barter] How much you selling that crossbow for? 2000 caps? Sounds fair to me.

This looks amazing! How much are you spending on the project?

You spelled " Philosophy " wrong in your sig Ryan. Thought I would let you know before someone else did.

Do it

Some good tips here, but I STRONGLY disagree with ever cropping or using motion stabilization with a camera like that one. Frame it right and rig up a ghetto glidecam instead of doing it handheld. I would also finish it in 1080p, only edit in 720 or 480 if you’re doing an offline edit.

Color-correction wise, I think your blacks are a little too crushed. If you’re using FCP, pull up a waveform monitor and the 3-way CC and just crush them down so that only the very darkest pixel is barely at zero. You’ll have more detail and it’ll still have more latitude than if you didn’t crush them at all. I’d also play with the mid ranges a little bit, it looks kind of flat.

Also, that camera has a gain limit that can be set at zero. I would really recommend shooting everything with that setting, in case the camera gets any funny ideas.

As far as sound goes, you might get the combine soldiers to sound more realistic if you equalized them to sound a little further off camera.

Overall I liked it, good work!

Exactly this.

Thank you all for the feed back and suggestions. Our budget for Part 1 and the Part 2 Trailer has been about $600, and no the crossbow is mine

I don’t remember seeing a bunch of late teens and twenty-somethings in any of the HL series. You need older actors playing the parts. Concept is good, suggestions are great but using teens and twenty somethings just doesn’t cut it.

I’m impressed, that video was great.

I liked the portrayal of the CP as not much more than uniformed thugs. I also loved the outfit of the Resistance guy.

Keep up the great work!

If you can spare the money, you could just get a couple of these to spice things up!

Otherwise I like really liked it, keep up the good work.

EDIT: And ffs I really want that crossbow! gimmegimmegimme, or alternatively, how did you make it, does it really work?

Good job with that mini series, way better than BBM.
Don’t stop

We would love to have actors that are in the proper age range to help keep the Half Life feeling, but due to the nature of our filming (and the fact we all recently graduated high school with this being one of our first serious video projects), and the availability of such actors, it is hard to find people who fit the proper image of a Half-Life 2 Citizen. So please believe me when I say we are trying our hardest to keep this film within the games canon and to please the fans of the series  We actually used PMG gas masks for early “beta” scenes, but something about them felt off so we opted to create our own masks modeled off the ones from in game. And like the guns in the movie the crossbow is just a prop that doesn’t fire, we wouldn’t want to accidentally pin one of our CP actors against a wall now would we? :stuck_out_tongue:

When you add muzzle flashes, blood etc then you need to track footage. Sometimes the screen looks too shaky and you have to stabilize it a little (be careful though, the image might be stable but motion blur is still visible which gives a “weird” effect). All of this is easier with 1080p, that’s why I mentioned it  .

As for the combine’s masks you might just smooth them out a bit and they’ll look much better…

Thanks man. How do I look now?
