Kleiner's appearance

I was reading this wiki article about Kleiner. Included in the article is this picture of Kleiner on a magazine cover taken from in-game HL2.

According to the article, “the picture likely dates from around the Black Mesa Incident”. So if the article’s analysis is correct, Kleiner, during the events of Half-Life 1, should have large amounts of brown hair and sideburns as in the cover of the magazine. If I remember right, the actual blackmesa Kleiner looks more or less the same as HL2 Kleiner just with browner and more hair.

Your thoughts? Is the wiki correct in assuming the picture was taken around the time of HL1? Is it too late to change Kleiner’s appearance to match the magazine photo? Is it even a good idea to change his appearance?

Kleiner looks hawt like that

Perhaps the resonance cascade is what singed his side burns off.

That’s Cave Johnson with hipster glasses, duh.

OFC there’s no way to be sure when that picture with burns was actually taken, but I personally like it more than the current Kleiner.

Yes.

Black Mesa/Half-Life takes place anywhere from 2000-2009. I don’t think anyone would have sideburns like that in that time period.

You’re wrong.

I’ve recently been tempted to grow sideburns like that.

point and case, dirty burns still exist past 1979.

I’m gonna have to go with false to the ‘likelihood’ of it having taken place around the BM Incident. Kliener’s gotta be in his 30’s-40s by BM’s time, that magazine could’ve been made well before the 2000’s. Late 80’s or 90’s, for example. I’d think in the span of a couple decades Kleiner would’ve changed his hair and/or inevitably lost some of it by BM.

Wait. Is that in game somewhere? If so then Valve is telling us what Kleiner looked like, and then shouldnt that be a guideline?

The other side of the coin though is I just want Black Mesa released and couldnt care less really if thats taking more time. Which it would. Lets roll with what we got.

People can change their appearance a lot through their lives.

The magazine logo is more akin to the 70-80’s PopSci logo

by the time the Black Mesa incident occurred, the logo would’ve looked more like this (1990’s)

[COLOR=‘Black’]there is another possibility that I won’t elaborate on

FLAT-SCREEN COLOR TV?!?! WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THAT?

DIGITAL MUSIC?

BIG SCIENCE IS DOOOOMED!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
