Its just hard enough

Wait, people full-auto weapons? I was reading this thread thinking “Wait, how did I get through the game using mainly the MP5?”
Makes sense now - I can’t help but burst fire automatic weapons in games; a consequence of too much CS and CS:S. I even do it with weapons that don’t have accuracy drop (in certain, less good games)… so I was tap-firing the whole way through and it downed the HECU pretty good.

Only problem was the Osprey/HECU/A-Grunt/Vort fight. That took some thinking but I eventually employed trip-mines on one of the crates, after noticing that the HECU didn’t behave so aggressively around trip-mines. That gave me time to pop the Osprey and it worked out pretty good after that…
But, I did clean up with the MP5 in that battle, and tap-fired the hell out of it.

And here I thought the game was too easy even on Hard. The only section that I had trouble with was the big fight with 2 tanks just after the chopper boss fight.

I personally like Half life more because you can play the whole game with 1 hp. In Black Mesa i think that is not even possible JUST because HECU guys shoot before i can even see them, and it doesn’t help that in Black Mesa you can carry only 3 MP5 Grenades.

I think it would be better to just reduce accuracy, reaction time greatly, add more soldiers, and make them have more health.

So as TextFAMGUY1 said i think it should be different kind of difficulty, because if you have no ammo and 1 HP you’re F’d. It would be much more fun to blast through the game when fully stacked, or actually be able to solve critical situations

Black Mesa already has more Soldiers than HL did, you know.

Having more soldiers than what we have now makes the HECU dumb to send a lot of soldiers to an area and couldn’t handle one man with a battery powered suit.

My complains about Black Mesa (playing on hard at 140FPS plus average)

  1. Insane recoil on almost all the weapons.
  2. MP5 being insanely inaccurate.
  3. How the MP5 couldn’t be single shot.
  4. Unhuman reaction time on the HECU soldiers.
  5. Lack of Xen. (Like that needed to be said. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Everything else was amazing.

The MP5 isn’t all that inaccurate. If you’re firing full-auto, then yeah, it sprays everywhere, but if you fire in bursts it’s really not that bad. Not quite as accurate as the Glock, but it’s still got a pretty good range.

Yeah, they changed the combat mechanic slightly, so it must be deviating entirely
It’s not meant to be a carbon copy of Half-Life, they improved upon the original game in every aspect to fit an audience that will no longer be wowed by Half Life. The original Half Life just isn’t scary or fun by today’s standards.

Not the jumping. They nearly broke that.

Also jumping doesn’t keep your momentum anymore, which I find off since if anywhere you’d want that, it’s while riding a tram.

Indeed…

In portal I there was a ‘lesson’ about this, an object with a certain momentum, keeps this momentum…

So when u felt through a portal to reach a point, u came out of the other portal at the same speed…

But finished the game again, lost my savegame (and achievements)
