Hey guys, thought I’d make my own quick version of the trailer theme. It’s by no means brilliant but I’ll try to improve it when I get some more time. :slight_smile:

Made entirely from scratch in Reason 5. I also edited the actual trailer footage a bit to make it more cinematic. :wink:

Nope; I’m currently still at school (sixth-form - I’m 18 ). I do these things just for fun at the moment. I’m hoping to go University next year and study Film & TV Production; should allow me to utilise my various video, musical and 3D-effects skills. :slight_smile:

It’s ok, but you pretty much took out the parts of the song that I actually thought made it interesting to listen to.

Oh? Which parts were they? Do you mean the mechanical noises and stuff? If so, I was going for a more ‘melodic’ or musical theme for my version. :slight_smile:

The melodic parts sound good but you should work more on the drums, the kick and snare sound a bit muffled. The overall mastering could also be better. Otherwise, a pretty good job, the atmosphere really feels like portal.

Thanks for the constructive criticism Wombât, although I made the drums slightly muffled and quieter on purpose because I didn’t want them to overpower everything else. I feel that they’re still too prominent actually; the original Valve track has barely noticeable drums. :slight_smile:
