Late Savant is late.

but it just appeared:fffuuu:

You seem to have developed some kind of “slow post”.
This suggests a whole new line of investigation!

let’s rather focus on Mac gamers

actually, let’s only focus on the Mac topic

I lol’d

Mac sucks./topic

He puts a new spin on the term idiot savant :expressionless:

lol

all graphics driver work perfectly under linux for me and they’re faster.
one example:
an opensource game I played a while ago under MS Windows had about 180fps and under Linux I had 950fps, so no, I think graphics driver the 3d support aren’t a problem

Most linux distros refuse to use the official ATI or NVIDIA binaries because they’re not opensource, instead they use their own opensource drivers that provide basic functionality and most don’t have much in the way of 3D support.

What game did you play?

The best part is that 40fps is already overkill for smooth animation.

That’s not the point, another game could run at 5fps on Windows while linux could play it at 60 on the same machine.

(I find anything under 60fps laggy)

Actually, the thing with anything below 40-50fps is that the slightest drop in framerates is enough for you to see a “flawed” animation. But if it’s steady, you won’t notice anything at all.

Just take a game that you know for sure to run at 100 or more fps all the time (like the original HL) and cap it at 40 fps, you won’t notice a thing.

I still noticed, some people have slower eyes than others, it’s a proven fact.

always used the official drivers, but I know there were some issues with ATI drivers

yeah, if you have usually about 20fps in games you won’t notice the lag after a while

Not quite sure how you can see an fps higher than your screen’s refresh rate…

People with fast eyes are normally those who always likes to read.

Anyway, anyone saw the Apple laptop that only has a rotating wheel and no keyboard in The Onion?

Well, that explains a lot for me - I enjoy reading, and I’ve noticed Lostcoast seems to lag when I have HDR on, but it’s still over 40FPS average when I run the sourcetest. It’s not laggy, but it looks laggy. :expressionless:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
