doesn’t he have AIDS?
I’m not sure, but if he does, then that’s what the HIV suit is for.
Home Alone would make a great Gordon Freeman IMO. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned him yet.
Who’s Macaulay Culkin?
Wait, Gary Oldman? He’s pretty well known, isn’t he? As far as I remember he was in 5th Element, Harry Potter, Air Force One, Leon… and, of course, Batman. Personally I always envisaged Gordon as much younger, as That One Guy said - and the same sentiment holds true for Hugh Laurie, he seems a bit too long in the tooth to play an only-just-PhD theoretical physicist.
Zing!
It doesn’t take much imagination from here.
Honestly though, this thread feels like it’s been done before.
Ah, I’ve never seen/read any of the Harry Potters. That kind of ruins it for me, then. Still, I didn’t say he isn’t well known, just that he isn’t “huge”. Besides, I think he’s a little more familiar for you folks across the pond than he is for us and probably the rest of the world. Besides, he didn’t play a leading role in any of those films.
That aside, Robert Downey Jr. is 46, Hugh Laurie 51 and Gary Oldman 53. David Bowie is 64. They’re all pretty old… For this reason, I think Gordon Freeman should be played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
How about Jim Parsons as G-Man ?
Fair enough - though he is the primary antagonist in both 5th Element and Leon, neither of those are/were massive blockbusters so I guess they don’t really count.
On the other hand, I’m 100% behind the idea of David Bowie for Gordon Freeman - if nothing else, the idea of Chris Mintz-Plasse as Gordon Freeman actually makes me feel nauseous… I propose Justin Bieber as an alternative.
I brought up Charlie Sheen as Freeman in another thread but it was ignored…glad to see someone agrees. He looks just like Gordon Freeman when he played in that movie 'The Arrival".
fuck yea. half life alone… epic.
Wouldnt mind seeing Chris Walken as Gman, or possibly Keano Reaves, hes got the personality for it!
I’m not sure if “dude, woah” is in the G-Man’s vocabulary. I guess it could always be added, though, for Keanu’s sake.
i’d agree with charlie sheen but, his face doesn’t look that smooth any more.
Imo if Gordon appears, it should just be a brief cameo.
Edit:
Actually I just thought, a live action film could work if they separated actors from voices.
Find actors that look the part and have them do the movie, then have the voice actors do their lines, and replace the original ones with them in editing.
Plus, it’d be impossible for Gordon to not win in the end, as he’d be Charlie Sheen.
I always saw HL being done like LOTR with a bunch of “meanwhiles” with Gordon, Eli and Kleiner, and Barney having separate stories. They all affect one another’s without knowing it…
A movie like that would have to be pretty long and paced just right though. So no Zack Snyder, he can’t pacing.
As for Gordon, Probably some unknown guy. It’s not really hard to make someone look like gordon. It’s the casting of other characters I’d be worried about, and David Bowie’s willingness to be associated with a video game (people around that age seem to have less respect for the medium).
So the whole thing would sound like a shitty dubbed anime where the voice actors have to bend over backwards to match the performances of the video? nah.
Actually I read somewhere that they did this in Terminator 2. Edward Furlong’s (John Conner) voice cracked during filming, and they had all his lines re-voiced in editing.
Also, the major difference here to dubbing foreign films is, they’re going to be saying the same words in the same language.
They should do the whole movie in first person! it could be epic.
although the director would have to be half life fan or theyd fuck it up:retard:
(subject: dubbing) It’s such a shitty idea. The main charm of a film adaptation is the difference from the source material. I wouldn’t pay 8 bucks to hear more of the same shit I can hear in-game.
This Jesse Eisenberg right here would be a decent Gordon Freeman. He’s got the right facial structure, build, and age. Plus, he can act his way out of a urethra.
You guys ought to understand that a HL movie where Gordon doesn’t talk or Gordon isn’t even in it would be highly unenjoyable to a real audience. Nerds from the game fanbase don’t count as an audience because they are incapable of making their own choices.
Isn’t putting the “real audience” first one of the factors that tend to ruin videogame movies?
