I hear tons about Halo, but most of it is about the actual games, not the distribution and availability.

To be fair, they DID have PC ports of the first two Halo games.
But Halo 2’s port was absolute ass and no one bought it, so they didn’t port the later games.
That was also before Microsoft started shitting up their PC gaming branches. Actually, that was right around the time they started doing it.
I’ll probably get Halo 4 for the PS3. I just don’t think it will run on my PC and I can’t stand FPS games on the Wii.

Is there some reason to hate Treyarch or something else that I am not aware of? They’re (one of) the makers of the CoD series, but I don’t see why that would be relevant here.

They have a long history of porting shit games around consoles. It was only after World At War that they started to get decent at original game design. For examples of their earlier work, see “Minority Report: Everybody Runs,” otherwise known as “Throwing People Through Windows: The Game.”
The only good part of that game. Their spiderman games up till 3 were pretty incredible though.
It’s weird. As they got better with COD, they lost their ability to spiderman.
