I Can´t Play On Windows 8

I downloaded and installed Black Mesa when my computer was Win7, but I’ve just updated to Win8 and now I can´t play.

1.- I open Black Mesa with steam (goes normally):freeman:
2.- Menu Opens (goes normally):freeman:
3.- Load Game (Goes normally until loading bar is full, then the screen freezes and I need to close hl2 process directly from Task admin) :fffuuu:

P.D. I can play non-steam games with source, such as whole Orange Box

Anyone knows what to do or maybe try so it’s still working?

There’s no such thing as a non-steam Source game unless you pirated it. Maybe that’s your problem. That and Windows 8.

My non-steam games are pirated, but they are independent from the MOD, because the mod is executed with the Source SDK 2007 downloaded from steam, and I execute steam and hl2 process in compativility mode with WinXpSP3, maybe I need to Reinstall the Source SDK, what do you think?

I have Black Mesa on my Windows 8 machine and it runs just fine. Idk what’s going on with you but I’m pretty sure that it’s not Windows 8. I also don’t run anything in compatibility mode as desktop mode allows me to run everything I did in Windows 7, in Windows 8 without problems. Hope this helps.

Protip: Don’t ask for help getting pirated games to work or say anything about having pirated games.
Perhaps you have a virus from one of them?

I’m not playing Black Mesa on pirated stuff, the Source SDK is Steam Legit and registered, so Black Mesa is being executed on a healthy basis, I think I should maybe Reinstall Either both Steam and Sorce SDK

That’s your best bet. Verify the cache and defragging the content might be of help, as well. Also be sure you installed it in the correct directory (steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS)

Reinstall your OS. Win 8 is pure evil. Revert back to Win 7.

Also, if you UPDATED in the way you just put a Win 8 install over running Win 7… well, last time that happened from Vista to 7, well… I refuse to start to think what sort of FUBAR has THAT created.

Also, forget about any help, if your stuff is pirated. Just buy your games. Source games = Valve = good titles = worth your money.

I’ve installed it on Vista, then switched to Win8 and it still works fine. It runs without any sort of compatibility mode. So yes, your best bet would be to reinstall it.

Yeah, no. Windows 8 is not pure evil. Only the shitty new Metro interface is, but the core system is fast and super stable. It’s basically an improved Windows 7 codebase with a stupid new interface shoehorned into it.

Yeah I’m going to reinstall the three Steam, Source SDK and black Mesa, I’ll post the results when done, but do you guys know where the save game directory is so I can keep my game progress?

do not use windows 8 it sucks.
use windows 7 instead. i have heard that people get less fps in games under win8…

i am very worried that if i buy black mesa that it wont work on my computer, since i have windows 8. My computer is compatible with everything else

Do other Source games work on your PC? Not mods, games.

If so, BM will most likely work on your PC. I’m pretty sure Source is generally Win8 compatible.
