Humble Indie Bundle 2

btw, it’s now steamable

Yep, and Desura’able

I don’t know what Desura is…

Desura appears to be a game distribution system (like Steam) run by ModDB. Mostly it has Indie Games on it.

I’d tell you if it was any good, but all attempts to install it give me an update error.

Well that’s not kosher. An excellent indication that the service is not any good.

It’s not like Steam was completely flawless when it was launched…

Anyway, Windows users may pay less for the pack on the average but they have provided the most revenue, with more than 50% of the total revenue.

Just beat Machinarium btw, brilliant little game.

Machinarium is one of my favourite games ever.

Well braid was mildly disturbing.

but not at all on the surface.

Just beat machinarium; I feel a little bad for using the arcade book a bit too often, but I loved the game nevertheless. Both Art direction and soundtrack are amazing.

Desura was released to the public about 30 hours ago
Its prone to have bugs (been in private beta for about a year)

Bundle has been extended another 5 days, this thing could pass the 2M mark.

is cool. hope they offer some diffe charities next time tho

I paid my entire PayPal balance. Which was under $10. :frowning:

I paid $7.50 which is close enough to the £5 I had in my pocket at the time. I have finished Braid, the bundle is worth it just for it. The other games feel like nice bonuses.

machinarium is more than just a bonus :hmph:

The only part of machinarium I didn’t like was the part where you plug into that big headed guys mind and fight the red dude’s in the maze.

Machinarium +4

Really? I had no idea. Comment withdrawn, then.

I didn’t actually mean it to sound like that. I was just trying to say that Braid is probably the main feature of the bundle. It might have something to do with me not being a massive fan of point and click games.

So I finally got Desura working after a buggy installer and that DDoS attack…

It’s basically as you would imagine it, ModDB integrated into Steam is essentially what the entire thing is. The interface is nice, but it’s still not perfect and when you start to actually navigate you’ll find one or two things feel a bit “off” and that different processes, such as adding games to the list, don’t happen as quickly or noticeably as you would expect them to.

The most awkward part, though, is that while it can integrate with supported Steam games and install mods quickly and seamlessly, you still have to have Steam running beside Desura to launch the game. It’s just a little clunky to have 2 distribution/installer clients running together and running a game through one when you launched it in the other.

Basically, for now at least, only install it if you have a serious hatred for the Steam service or you play an excessive number of mods from ModDB and want an easier way to install and manage them all than Steam.
