Humanity to become extinct?

There’s no such thing as “devolve”.

:retard:

unvolve

Maybe revert.

Evolution is like acceleration. There is technically no such as “deceleration” as a reduction in directional momentum is acceleration in another direction.

Devolution can be seen as a special kind of evolution though. For example, humans have devolved tails. Of course, that’s just a small part of a whole organism, and it’s still evolution.

They didn’t devolve tails, they evolved to not have tails.

Thats the same… i think.

the universe basically wont exist in any meaningful way w/o humans to observe and poke at it so whatever. die off bitches

The “bird-branch” evolved from the dinosaurs long before they became extinct. Scientists have found fossils of fully developed birds that even lived during the same period as the famous Archaeopteryx - which is evidence that he is not a missing link, but a dead end branch of the “bird evolution”. They had already become a whole new species by the time the clock stroke midnight, so technically, to say “the dinosaurs survived” is false. The dinosaurs didn’t survive. Birds survived. Dinosaurs became extinct.

At least from our point of view. Which, I gather, doesn’t mean much to the universe itself.

welcome 2 the dessert of the real

Birds were there long before the dinosaurs went extinct. Not to mention by far not all dinosaurs would change into a bird. I mean, sure: The T-Rex does look like a giant chicken in some parts, but he could never evolve to a chicken in such a short timespan. The same goes for any other dinosaur at the end of the cretaceous, or however it’s spelled. I’ve also seen some morons who believe dinosarus evolved into the mammals of today, like Brachiosaurus into a Giraffe, which, aeven though they are extremely similair in shape, is not compatible with fossils, or general knowledge about dinosaurs.

I was trying to say that they’re the same thing - that devolution is a term sometimes used to describe a certain kind or a certain part of evolution.

Charizard devolved into charmeleon!

But in all seriousness: Is shrinking in size devolving?

Nope. It is evolving to adapt to a new environmental niche.

Okay, that answers the question.

That’s my job.

Science teacher, eh?

That’s kind of how evolution works.

But, I think this should go into an evolution thread if we wish to continue this further.

No, you were saying all dinosaurs evolved, instead of gone extinct.

But yeah, move to the evo thread.

The world isn’t really overpopulated, there’s just a strain on the current system of production and distribution lines. That is, there is enough food and space for everyone on the planet, and a few billion more, to live more egalitarian lives. but that’s not the system we live under.

Durp durp.
