HUD Looks different from other people's HUD?

In pictures and walkthroughs I’ve seen of BM, the HUD looks very digital. In my game, it’s just bland and weird looking.

My HUD

Somebody else’s HUD

It’s probably my old hag of a computer, but how can I fix this?

Specs

CPU: Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

Graphics: ATi Radeon x1050

OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

3GB RAM

EDIT

I have solved this.

did you activate HUD bloom in a very high quantity in the “Black Mesa” ribbon options???

Yes, I did.

Looks like your HUD post-processing effects aren’t activated.

When I do that, my screen either goes purple, or my PC just completely crashes. Any launch option commands or anything that would fix that?

Are you using ENBseries or SoftTH or any other D3D9.dll file? The BM custom shader dll conflicts with those.

Nope, I’m just using the normal BM files, with only like, two skin mods.

Could your hardware possibly be having a hard time running with it enabled?

Possibly. About 1/4 of the time the screen just turns purple. 3/4 of the time my PC just crashes.

Update your drivers.

They’re updated to the latest.

Well then your GPU could just be having problems with rendering it properly.

How can I fix that?

Your computer just isn’t for gaming. Get a new one or simply play it with “boring” HUD

Could you recommend any good hardware upgrades that are below $100?

Depends on many things, whether your current hardware would support the upgrade, for instance. There’s the possibility that your power supply wouldn’t have a high enough output, for instance.

I have a 375W power supply.

Bump. I’ve gotten it to not crash when I enable post processing, by not enabling it in the main menu. The issue now is the purple screen. When I lower the HUD Bloom, the purple goes to a purple and black checkered screen…

You have a weak graphics card and your power supply won’t be enough for a new one. Get at least a 450W power supply. About graphics card: I can recommend GeForce GTS 450 (produced by either Gigabyte or Palit) - it’s pretty cheap (about $100) and perfoms pretty decent in all modern games.

  1. Try fiddling with the CCC settings
  2. Try older drivers
  3. If you do get a new GPU, go with the 7750
