My discovery goes back when it was first announced on planethalflife.com WAY back when the first teaser trailer and first screenshots were released. Been following it ever since.
Read some small article in 2005 that brought my attention to it and decided to join the forums. The database got wiped out and I didn’t re-register for a long time. I remember Catzeyes93 was in a forum on another site with me and she was so excited in early 2007 about getting a voice acting job with the mod.

Last year, I was playing GMod, saw something about Half-Source, searched it up curious if it was a real remake, and I found this site.
How I found this site/mod was looking for a good HL2 mod. Saw it on YouTube and thought: “Holy crap. Can finally play HL1 for the first time!” Yes, I’ve never played the first one but have been watching ‘Freeman’s Mind’ to learn.
I remember now how I found this: I described it in the other “How did you find BM” thread a few years ago.
I had bought the orange box 2 years ago, after having played hl2 with the various episodes, I decided to try the original hl. After having finished it, I was looking on internet for some random hl clip, and found the 2009 trailer, so I went and had a look at the forum.
planethalflife.com introduced me to the mod way back in 05 or so signed up here not long after lol…oh the memories of the last eight years. Things have changed so much
I do believe that would have been gamernode? That was back when even winged-one liked me.
Anyone who don’t like you Catz ain’t worth a damn.
I discovered Black Mesa via a very, very niche pr0n site.
I like catz, but I have to admit the backlash against her around the time she left was at least partially deserved (although greatly exaggerated). Anywhooo… water under the bridge :d
I randomly stumbled across BM in late 2005. Didn’t join the forums until a couple of months after the cancelled 2009 release.
Personally, I’m glad Catz is back. I like seeing the rest of the old forumites getting back together over common interests- namely the impending release of the mod.
Weirdly enough, I’ve probably hung out with this forum more than my actual real life friends in terms of sheer time invested.
I know, I know, I need a life. Working on it. But it’s nice to have a set of vitriolic, boisterous friends I can talk to at any time on my computer despite being strangers scattered across the world. Heck, some of my irl friends call me by my net handle instead of my name sometimes.
If it’s any consolation most of the members that have been here for a while are smarter than a large portion of my RL friends and I have spent a lot of time on my computer over the years so It’s probably a similar situation.
Though to be fair, I actually have been on my computer a lot less lately, a side effect of discovering the joys of actually having a life outside video games.
I’ve known about this mod since THIS thread on Half-life2.net, so that’s since October 13, 2004.
Wow…almost 8 years ago…
I found an article on wikipedia in 2006 while digging for episode 2 stuff on google
Touché
Probably the latest reply ever, but i think it was a Lan Party
