In all seriousness, how would they? They are not human but they would be intelligent and self-aware if they could make it all the way here. And I mean semi-friendly ones too.
EDIT: how did I spell legally wrong?

They would be contained by the government and examined, interviewed, and then they might release the information to the public if they were bored one day and wanted to screw with us.
If a semi intelligent self aware alien, that was also semi friendly showed up I would deal with it by trying to stick my dick in it. I’d be the first guy to fuck an alien.
props to kevin smith.
Depends on what government you’re talking about.
The world isn’t run by one singular force…yet.
I’m serious here.
That’s what they want you to think.
In all seriousness, we will never ever ever ever find intelligent extra terrestrial life. In all likeliness it exists, but the chance of finding it in an infinite universe where it takes LIGHT billions of years to reach us from other stars is 0. We don’t need to have some sort of legal procedure because it will NEVER happen. Sorry to smash your sci-fi dreams.
And thus the point of “what if…” scenarios. They don’t have to be in any way possible, just interesting to think about.
It is so VERY unlikely and I am just saying if it did not when it will.
Really, nothing is TRULY impossible just so unlikely that is is not worth taking and sort of action for it.
Thanks for double posting. We appreciate that a lot.
They would probably be imprisoned for a long time for studying and questioning. Questioning coming after they try to teach it to talk. Legally, as in, once there was a whole bunch of human-level intellegence aliens walking around, I’m sure they’d get the same rights as humans, after a 200 year long race war style thing.
Humans don’t take kindly to things they don’t understand.
i would assume the same about other (alleged) intelligent life in the universe.
All brawn and no brains…
They said the same thing about the Earth being round.
I assume kinda like “V” minus the hostilities.
Well, seeing as we know fuck all about extra-terrestrial life, that assumption may be incorrect.
They would’ve evolved completely independent of everything we know. Chances are their society won’t function the same way ours does; so they may be curious about things they don’t understand rather than bloodthirsty and cautious.
I’m sure its not zero, just very very very small
Also the universe has a definite size, it started as a singularity and is expanding. When it collapses (assuming for a moment it won’t just keep expanding, I don’t like that theory) I’m sure we’ll be introduced to everyone else rather rapidly
Well, assuming humanity doesn’t kill itself, we’ve got between 24 billion and 3.65 × 10^3 billion years left before that happens, so I think we’re good.
EDIT: source it’s actually a pretty interesting read.
Semi-friendly? So they act nice but are secretly disgusted by us? Or do they act mean but really love us deep down?
Probably covered up, and if the knowledge of them did go public, barely anybody would believe it, unless of course, it was done right.
Eeew~ But than again, that’s your wish. I just think that’s eew.
i just think that’s clerks teew
Assuming it wasn’t an invasion force, and hadn’t already blasted our capital cities into submission, the first hurdle would be communication. I have absolutely no idea how that would be solved, I imagine any intelligent beings that wished to communicate with us would probably try to learn our languages first, maybe. Second, the government of whatever country the aliens decide to make landfall would immediately surround the area with “non-threatening” military force, 1. because we’re an amazingly aggressive race that only needs the drop of a hat to start squabbling over something and 2. as a subtle, but not-so-subtle show of force in a (probably naive) attempt at dissuading any aggressive act from the aliens.
Then they would send out some form of diplomatic party to start negotiations for peace, information, trading etc. Scientific trade would be made in the form of biological subjects. I.e. they study us, we study them. Another thing that seems to be rarely dealt with, is pathogens. They would be absolutely crawling with bacteria and viruses that humans have never before come into contact with, and vice versa, so some form of quarantine would be needed so a vaccine could be developed to be spread to the general populace in the inevitable event that humans and aliens mingle.
And probably a whole host of things that I haven’t thought of.
