How to start the game?

I installed it to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps (default). Would like to know how I start it

Restart Steam and the game will appear on your library.

Thanks dude, had a brain fart there.

I cant see how to start black mesa either.

Barry

Did you do this? Still not working?

yes i did. i cant bm in my library

sorry. i cant see bm in my library or find it anywhere on steam.

Black Mesa Source will only show up in your Steam games list if you install it to:
\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS (which is the default directory the installer suggests)
If you had installed it on a different folder, you won’t be able to start the mod until you move the game files to the above directory.
Make sure you have Source SDK 2007 installed before you restart Steam.

Read my Reddit post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/101chk/solved_how_to_run_black_mesa_source_if_the_game/

NOTE: You will have to reinstall BMS to get this to work.

thanks for that. working now

to run modify this and create qwn shortcut

“D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe” -applaunch 218 -game “D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS”

That runs for me.

Thanks!

im having problems starting BM. It shows on my steam but when i click it nothing happens. any ideas what’s wrong?

You have to install “Source SDK Base 2007”. You can download it under the “Tools” section of the Library.

your reddit link does not work for me; (th link only gives me some stylesheet-free gibberish)

and my C: is full, so basicaly i’m fucked now?

-.-
seriously why does evry fcuking program need to be put in C???

and the wierd thing is: i alredy played the game; (it can be launched from the installer)
but as this is a one-time chance i can’t start it now.

I downloaded and installed the game in the correct folder, installed the “Source SDK Base 2007”, restarted steam and it is still not in my list of games. What now?

Edit: I tried the desktop shortcut “C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe” -applaunch 218 -game “\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\BMS” and it gives error Setup file 'gameinfo.txt doesn’t exist in subdirectory, yet I see it in there.

Edit2: Leaving out the (x86) makes it work for me woot, but still not in my Steam list…

I have Steam installed under “F:\program files (x86)\games\steam” on my PC. I run Black Mesa Source as follows.
Start Steam, then
“F:\program files (x86)\games\steam\steamapps\UserName\source sdk base 2007\hl2.exe” -game “F:\Program Files (x86)\games\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\BMS”
where UserName is my Windows user name.

You can install BMS on another drive and then create a symbolic link from the installation into the sourcemods folder. That’s actually a pretty common workaround for installing Steam games on other drives - although, lately, Steam has been asking me where I want to install stuff before I start downloading it, so it looks like they’ve finally addressed that issue.

Because that’s how Steamworks. COLOR=‘Black’

Dohohi

but how to restart steam can u help me

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
