how many player??

Think about it. Within 2 weeks, the black mesa source trailer had 500000 views. Now say if everyone that watched the trailer watched it twice, thats 250000 people.

It now has over 1 million views. Say that every one that watched it by this point watched it three times, thats ~350000 people.

So far, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand people know the mod exists and are probably pumped for it.

Given that not all these people are dedicated fans, we should see approx 10-20 thousand people download the mod on day one, and that number will grow exponentially.

Given that the mod itself is a much bigger gamer magnet than a mere (but awesome) trailer, we could see downloads in excess of 500000 individual IP adresses by Release date +6 months

I expect ‘everyone’ that has watched the trailer to have downloaded it within 3-4 months post release, and then add in the latecomers for the extra 150000.

This is in my opinion a conservative estimate, as it doesn’t take into account further promotion my Valve if they happen to put it on steam and in their news feed.

If this happens, double everything.

I hate maths :frowning:

The math! IT BURNS!

And all he does is rephrase what other people have said already.

Anyway IMO you can’t predict numbers of people, especially for a mod that will be theoretically available to everyone who has internet at once.

This.

Ten thousand the first month and less than a year, every player of HL2.

While the numbers are of course pure speculation , my point is that this mod will be big. Really, really big.

Even Lolipopkid could guess that :jizz:

How many people should be able to DL at once?

That only depends on the number of mirrors black mesa will have. I’m guessing they will have many, but barely enough.

There won’t be enough. Black Mesa is gonna break the internetz.

True. If the mod isn’t released by November, I’m gonna spend ALL December refreshing the main site 24/7. It will be the only way to ensure a download slot before the internets are borked… :frowning:

Well if they set up torrents overloaded servers won’t be a problem.

Why are people worried about download mirror’s breaking why not just use a torrent if they don’t have a torrent I will be disappoint.

If they don’t have an official torrent someone will make a torrent. It is inevitable.

But of course they will have an official torrent or I will eat my Jade Figurines :fffuuu:.

But if everyone starts to download via torrent, guess the speed would suck because of the higher leech ratio. Or maybe I’m just talking bullshit

Yes you are.

More people = faster download.

Theoretically it should be faster with more peers, but (especially at first) it will be slower because everyone will be assholes who don’t seed.

Or they will be retards who seeds without knowing it.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
