Help us make an awesome wiki!

Called it

https://wiki.blackmesasource.com/index.php/File:Bm_c2a1a0037.jpg oo trainy.

Oh I think we can all safely say there are “releases” going on, but they are subtle and small and sneek in under the radar. Only the l337 here on the forums have access to it.

It be called the WIKI~!

That’s what she said.

yes. yes it is.

:jizz:

:s nicker :s nicker:

BTW, it was made by me. I was making it a standard, and was editing other pages to follow the same guideline. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to write the guidelines in the Wiki Standards, and someone already changed this standard in some articles. ¬¬

The standard I used (not in all articles, cause most are stubs) is:

  1. Table of Contents and an iconic image of the chapter with a caption. (example: Inbound)
  2. Chapter Summary
  3. Gameplay
2.1) Gameplay Elements (with the name of the “gameplay element” itself as a section, if there are some. example: On a rail)
  4. Main Locations (with the name of the “main location” itself as a section, if there are some, example: Anomalous Materials - notice the thumbnail with the location’s pic, with caption, in the right)
  5. Redesign History (or “Redesign Process”? Still in doubt what section heading suits better… The guideline is: first a text explaining the main goal of the redesign, then the gallery with pics and caption. e.g.: Surface Tension)
  6. Trivia
  7. Media
6.1) Screenshots (the pics should follow the order they appear in-game, and is needed caution to not repeat pictures already used in the other sections of the article.)
    6.2) Videos

I think it is good to follow the same standard for other type of articles (enemies, weapons, etc), but of course with some adjustments.

Exactly. This is the idea. Same goes for any other sections of the article.

Now it’s the best time for us to discuss this and finally “set in stone” some standards. It will avoid a lot of trouble in the future, when the wiki will be probably a lot bigger.

Switch group 6 with group 4 IMO.
I agree with Raptor.

I also think 6 and 4 should be switched, but I also think that trivia should come before both.

Awesome stuff. I’m just wondering, on the talk page Panda says the shots he uploaded are old, but I want to know how old? I’m guessing they were taken in the last 6-12 months judging from the detail in some of the shots.

I reckon the WGH shot is pretty recent, but that’s just me.
(btw, I like the HUD in that shot)

What about:

(…)
4) Media
4.1) Screenshots
4.2) Videos
5) Redesign History
6) Trivia

I agree with the switchings suggested, but I think the Trivia should be the last, cause it is a set of curiosities about the whole article including the game trivias and redesign curiosities.

That also works for me. I just didn’t want to split up media.

Edit: Fridge! Where the hell did you get this image?
https://wiki.blackmesasource.com/index.php/File:Bm_c2a1a0025.jpg

Holy crap that’s awesome.

ahaha that is when the garga had a hull size of the player and he could run in small corridors…good times

The hud is old, the gluon fx is old, and the gargantua was riddled with bug…ah memories

Hey Fridge, why did you shrink the max size of the image to 640 × 384?
1280×768 is a lot better!

i came :B

Yeah, sorry about the resize, I thought resizing it wouldn’t cause it to overlap with the other page elements. The bigger file is there if you want to look at it anyway. I signed up a wiki account today and I didn’t know what I was doing, cut me some slack guys! :stuck_out_tongue:
I got that image from Ram some time ago, so Kane has confirmed it’s outdated, albeit an awesome shot.

I just having erection after all of these picture. :jizz:

Ok, bro! I reverted the image to its original size. The awesomeness in full resolution!

To avoid overlapping, log in to the wiki, go to “my preferences” > then click on the tab “files” and change the “Image size limit” to 640x480px.
It will not change the original image size; only the size of the preview.
