With the windows 7 install DVD, you can open CMD by pressing Shift+F10.
Also you won’t have any problems formatting everything, if windows 7 was missing the proper drivers, you wouldn’t even see the drives in the windows 7 installation envoronment.

Thanks, I managed to get my files with a live ubuntu usb stick.
And yeah, I was hesitant to delete those recovery partitions, since it’s not my own laptop. But I figured they’ll never be used anyway.
Btw, this is why I recommended Dell. Excellent service. Just typed in my service tags and I immediately had the appriopriate drivers.
HP is one of the worst for drivers, they include 50 useless drivers that aren’t even for your specific model, even after searching for the asset tag of the laptop.
terrible
i dont understand when its so hard to find drivers, it cant be that difficult to provide that little bit of service.
I’m currently doing the endless initial Windows updates, so it’s going pretty well by now
Thanks again!
'Grats on getting it working Bur.
Thanks W7 is soooo much better.
Yeah, my own experiences with W8 haven’t been too good. It’s a bit clumsy.
