HECU splitter camo?

I was playing Half-life the other day and noticed that the HECU marines wore urban splitter camo, but in Gearbox’s HD skin pack they just wear normal urban camo. So then I thought maybe someone could recreate the urban splitter camo in Black Mesa.

There’s honestly a fucking difference?

The resolution is so low I can barely tell.

There’s actually quite big difference between splitter camouflage and regular camouflage splitter camouflage’s spots are squares instead of wavy lines. And some people may like a reskin of this caliber due to it being the uniform style that appeared in the original game.

Something I want: Someone add the PCV vest.

The first team of grunts sent into Black Mesa didn’t have PCV vests but rather body armor. The second team of grunts sent in during Opposing force did. That’s why Gordon never sees any grunts with PCV vests because he was already on Xen.

Uhh, no, did you just make that up yourself? PCV’s were invented by Gearbox for Opposing Force to explain an alternative armour mechanic to the HEV. If you want to get technical, parts of OpFor aren’t officially considered part of the HL timeline and universe, like race X and PCV’s. The nuke that destroyed BM at the end of OpFor is considered part of the timeline though.

I’ve never seen a statement from Valve about the PCV vest so I imagine that’s what they intended with my statement above. Also many of the grunts in Opposing force for instance are much more heavily armed then their counterparts. But your probably right that’s just how I see the Half-life universe.

Well, I make some time ago Classic HECU Helmets.

When I say PCV, is something like the Romka vests.

But obviously in BMS style.

I have your HECU skin, it’s pretty good, also I really like Romka’s vests somebody should make a vest that looks like that.

You know, I was wanting to do this and even started, but I realized I’d be spending way too much time on the HECU and not anything else. I don’t know if I should really care though…

Something I am much more interested in trying is rigging Romka’s HECU up to work in Black Mesa. Of course I’d have to reskin it as well because the art style just doesn’t fit. I also have no idea how to rig new models in source, so I’d be learning as I go. Which should I try first? The model or the urban skin?

That’s a hard question to answer but since you don’t really know anything about rigging I’d try skinning first. Also how do you get a texture to be in the same shape as the orginal texture?

Well. If you will do this I recommend just put the Romka’s vest, radio and gasmask helmets in BMS Grunts. But the rest, default, long sleeves, thing in the back. and only.

I wonder why there are not soldiers in a special suit as those of Gordon

they did had, in Point of view, its implied that HECU also helped the BMRF in exploring Xen, after all, they are the Hazarous Enviroment Combat Unit.

That’s a mod and isn’t cannon, although at the end of Half-Life you could see dead soldiers in Xen when the gman was talking to you, so the HECU may have tried to capture Xen.

actually that isn’t xen its some where near black mesa. the skybox for the map was xen but its not xen for that part.

then I will need a good reason for them to be called Hazarous Enviroment Combat Unit, if they just fight on earth

Yes, because there are no hazardous environments on earth…
