One more criticism of your rocket silo: they have an entire rocket silo, and they’re only using it for a single, small platform holding an HEV suit that could be placed in a little alcove. Even if it’s makeshift, I think BMRF could make better use of a huge freaking rocket silo.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows how to make an overview of the entire HC using screenshots, like that one picture that shows all of blackmesa because that’d be pretty useful.

The map I’ve posted screenshots to was not and is not going to be used for the hazard course community project - it was only something I’d been doing to play about with Hammer. You can safely ignore it !
@garthbartin - I had started compiling one, I might finish it and post it tomorrow, although I’m not sure it’s actually of much use.

A moddb page has been mentioned and has been / is being discussed by a few of us behind the scenes. It may get one if we come up with a compelling way for it to be useful in any way - certainly for the moment this is a BMS forum community exclusive

i am a prop and scenery modeler i have no experience rigging or animating but i am also fairly hammer proficient so i can do a bit of mapping as well if need be (though how many mappers will really be needed for what basically boils down to a single map i don’t know haha)

You can noclip above the level to take a series of pictures to be pasted together. I used the strafe keys to keep at the same elevation while moving around.
EDIT: to get rid of the HOM effect, get into position and hit the escape key twice - going to the menu resets the view.
That’s just the first level, btw. I can do the rest too, but it may take me awhile to get to them since I’m going out of town in the next few days.
+1, I’d like to contribute in some way, not sure what though. I don’t think that many custom props/textures would be needed, you could use most of the BM ones. Also, the HC should feel old but not abandoned as some people are saying. It’s just an old part of the facility that has been retrofitted to form a training course, it shouldn’t be all run down and derelict, but it should feel old and well-worn. I like Floyd’s suggestions though, he’s got some good points.
So now that we are going back to the well worn but not run down aspect of the HC, someone will need to eventually rewrite how Gina interacts with the participant. (this is not something to worry over just now, but eventually it will need to be discussed)
The whole reasoning behind the idea of an unused HC was to have a broken holograph which would fritz parts of the speech that would otherwise say something like “press the use key to xyz”

EDIT: Just remembered that if anyone’s going to voice act this, it’ll be you, so I suppose that’s your decision.
Why would it be unused? Clearly it’s still in use to train HEV wearing scientists how to operate in the field. It just made more sense and was way less feasible financially to use an old part of the facility instead of building a brand new shiny course.
I think if we’re going to go with the “disused section of the facility” idea. a few play-throughs of “research and development” would be in order
In my head at the moment I have an image of an old part of the facility which was, maybe rapidly, maybe for financial reasons converted to a training couse with whatever was lying about - as it was put by before - very ‘makeshift’.
It’s quite possible the style direction could change / mature as we go on anyway. The first item of concept art will be appearing before too long and that may help steer us towards a clearer direction.

True. I think a variety is needed. Some parts are worn, others virtually abandoned save for the participants of the HC, and others are very recent such as the area with the guards and scientists.
Agree with you on that. Another thing, I wouldn’t worry about designing the long jump section till later, apparently the long jump module has been changed according to the devs, so maybe it’s better to wait and see how it functions and design it around that.
I think the “long Jump Module testing area” should occur in a final room.
where the player has to jump from one platform to another over ever increasing distances.
