Hazard Course

Circle jumps, what the hell kid, youll achieve nothing but clipping the rear of your heels on a concrete ledge and cracking your skull open at the back.

Now how about something realistic like surfing… :retard:

Surfing? I’ll have to add that

I never liked the Hazard Course, it was annoying and once you got the grasp on how to control Freeman, there was no point in going through it again. Half-Life is simple in terms of what you can do with the controls. There’s no objective, trading, mission or any bullshit like that, so you can’t really get anything wrong. New players have to know that it’s controlled with WASD and the Mouse, that’s about it… I think the way HL2 implemented the in-game popup things at the right moment was perfect, and as I’ve heard it will be like that in Black-Mesa.

If you take this transmission into account could/should be more like a race with score boards where you want to best other plays times. (online score boards anyone) This is starting to sound like mirrors edge.

Hmmm, although something like that would require coding to make it reliable

you could pass it thru a motd to a php web server and secure it using some sort of hashing (username, Steam ID, current date time, map, race time). Matching hash generation on the server could verify the integrity of the data. Also user-agent checks, and a strict failed hash check Steam ID ban could deter hacking. (throw in some mutating hash generation and your all set)

Super easy to implement and fairly reliable. But if not programmed properly score fraud would be a problem.

Yeah. Stopping exploiting the system isn’t that hard. Getting the game to interface with the server we can’t do…

KKKKAAANNNNEEEEE :3

You remind that guy’s face crack in half again…

The Shooting Range Part should let you use a pistol. The H.E.C.U. had the MP5,not BM.
Also the whole Course should be based off of the PS2 version seen in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaP53-P6VBI

Suggestion: Have the ducking exercise (if kept) take place in abandoned sewage/liquid-waste treatment clarifiers and/or API oil-water separators, e.g. have corroded chain-and-flight scrapers under the grating, metal chain guide tracks on the obstacles, marks/rebar indicating that the walls were cut down to floor level at the entrance/exit ends of each section, old spray paint decals/overlays referring to the room’s original purpose, etc.

Edit: Screenshots canceled due to issues w/ Source SDK.

So what about that? All links are dead. I wonder if this is still WIP.

Well since it’s been 7 months since the last post, assume its dead. Dont necro dammit!

Yes, this project of hazard course is more dead than Elvis and Gary Coleman!

In my opinion the next HL thing that needs to be sourced is uplink. It seems everyone who’s tried has quit.

1 post and its a fucking necro.

welcome to BMS you’ll fit in well here

read the sarcasm…

You have a point with the first point, all the rest… no.

As for basing it off the PS2 version. Hell yes. I loved the additions.

someone should totally start this up again, it was awesome. :frowning:

It probably won’t be started up again until the mod is released and someone with less obligations can and will be project lead.

Design and implement the layout using the hl2 developer texture. An art pass can be done after the mod is released.

I meant no one will likely have much interest in starting it up again until the mod is released.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
