Happy Birthday Half-life!

Already considered. Not compatible with existing agreements we currently are under. In addition, putting up a kickstarter would reveal information about the license in terms of cost which is a no-no.

Okay fair enough.

Are we seeing any new media anytime soon or would that reveal the specifics of the engine somehow?

I was about to ask the same thing.

But unless they’ve made major changes in some levels I can’t see how they could have ‘new media’ unless it was Xen.

I’ll see if we can get some media posted.

Or I could be wrong.

I hope you can.

Glad to hear it!

Now, one last queston: You said you cannot reveil the engine, and I respeect that! …but maybe this is crazy to ask, or maybe you can’t answer this: But is it a VALVe engine? :retard:

Do you think we’d have a license agreement with VALVe if we were on another engine? :stuck_out_tongue:

The answer is probably obvious.

If —as they said— the old engine forced them to make some decisions by which they are no longer constrained, I imagine we shall see some changes. I can’t imagine exactly what has changed, and maybe it is better served by video or text than screenshots, but oh well.

The point is, I hope they show us, somehow, how the year-long work with the new engine benefits the game.

Black Mesa on Source 2 confirmed. Just joking, please forgive me this one
Anyway, what about Deathmatch open beta or something, any info on that?

Our hand was forced into moving to a new engine. It is a requirement for us to sell on Steam. A major chunk of work was fixing up our code which did not build after we ported from the old engine (2007). However, being on a new engine that we have code access to allows us to change a ton of stuff.

Well, a showcase of any visible changes as a result of that forced engine change would be welcome by the community, I imagine.

So I guess this means the Steam version will have actual steam achievements?

Yes, that’s correct.

Will be Xen in the free version too or just in the paid version?

Yeah good question.

What’s this mysterious new engine? A new version of Source?

Well its a Valve engine, we know that.

And they’ve already said they’re not allowed to say, but that it probably a strong possibility.

yaaay. Will definitely buy. Good work and good luck Black Mesa developers. I wish you all a good health.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
