Happy Birthday Half-life!

I just really hope that Text brings the Uncut mods up to snuff, and puts them on this hypothetical Workshop. I really love the Uncut sections, and would hate to see them left in the dust of the Black Mesa desert. :[

Well it looks like they aren’t going to be in the main game. Shame.

Yeah, putting them in the game would just draw attention to their original absence, I think’s the logic. Better to just not talk about it and hope people forget anything was missing. :frowning:

You’re saying their sole purpose for not adding new content was the fact that it wasn’t there before?

If that logic WAS being used, then why are the Devs getting a fancier version of source to fix/add/improve things in the game?

Sorry, but that makes no sense.

Don’t take it the wrong way! I mean no offense!

 thank you! I’ve been wanted to get half-life for source files for gmod, and because the game is fun. I hope the free version includes government man a few times or something :3

No Source 2? :’( Oh well, even if the paid version is basically on Source 2013.1 or something like that with no major differences enginewise from the free version (and I mean major, I know there will be SOME from the free version) and some convoluted legal rule prevents you from stating what specific version of Source you’re using, it doesn’t really matter. Though just to be clear, did you switch the engine twice? (Source 2007 to Source 2013, Source 2007 to the Supr Sekret Mystery Engine of lore :stuck_out_tongue: )

Can somebody put a link to this official stance please? Can’t seem to find it.

Steam OS is just modified Linux, any game that can run on Linux can run on SteamOS, they don’t have to be specially made.

Though having full access to the engine code would make it easier.

I think it’s ridiculous to sell the game before it’s completed.

Like all the AAA developers aren’t doing that? Ever heard of DLCs? Expansion packs? That’s really just convoluted ways of selling a product in increments.

Plus, I’m sure the Xen update will be free anyway.

How soon is soon for the steam release and when are the Xen levels supposed to be released? I know it is a stupid question that in an earlier day would have demanded flamethrowers but I have been following this mod since 2006 and I just want to know.

I guess that means no Xen then.

He was referring to TextFAMGUY1’s On a Rail and Surface Tension Uncut not being integrated into Black Mesa.

He was, but the same logic applies.

lack of logic, rather

i wonder how they can improve the visual quality even higher…

[insert gaming tech buzzword here]

I do honestly hope that we will see at least some of the original vision the devs had for the cut section of Surface Tension. From what I picked up here and there, it was in a semi-complete state, having been mapped out and voiced.

[speculation]Heck, maybe the fact that it is getting finished for the second release is the reason why the uncut version isn’t going to be officially implemented.[/speculation]

Give it a break. In the case of Surface Tension, the dev who was making that part left the team. On what terms, I don’t know, but I strongly doubt it matters now - because of TextFAMGUY1’s mods. I mean why would they waste their time and energy on maps that have been done alredy. No, they wouldn’t.

Medkit your lucky my 3g lost signal because i nearly blasted you but to be honest I just think you need to rethink what you wrote.

To say surface tension does not matter, I am ashamed.

Oh well nevermind.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
