And I’m on the Combine’s side, so yes, Breen is a good guy to me.
Gigantic bug-synthetics that have control spread across dimensions appeal to me much more than sacks of hydrogen holding their dicks on a rock in the middle of space – fucking humans.
I’m kind of wondering how you would reimagine the first game to fit as a movie.
Just following the very same format of a linear quest to escape, launch a rocket, etc., with everyone dying on the way…wouldn’t make a good movie. Some way of establishing recurring characters, making Gordon’s fight to escape a little bit more legitimate and timid, instead of straight-up action hero stuff. There’s a lot that would need to be done to make it a believable thriller.
In regards towards the whole issue of the untrained Resistance taking City 17 being implausible - I don’t think its that hard to believe. There were more citizens than Combine troops, the rebels had plenty of weapons and munitions to get from dead troops (not to mention, the weapons already had by Underground Railroad militias taken from Civil Protection, long before the Uprising).
You can only have so many pissed off people with guns in a city before its impossible to stop them. The result was that City 17 was completely rubbelized - but it didn’t matter, because plenty of rebels escaped to the outer areas, such as White Forest base and surrounding outposts.
I agree entirely. I think Gordon would have to be the biggest of several main characters - there would need to be more parts featuring the scientists, as well as Underground Railroad/Resistance leaders.
