Gun licenses should require a high-school education and need to take a written test I guess.
Give guns to people who can us them the way they are to be intended, take them away from idiots who are likely to shoot anyone that happens to wonder onto their property.

As well as a training course, the right to bear arms, should not be a right, but a privilege. I sit back and think about all the people who are killed and harmed because some stupid idiot couldn’t control himself or her self and shot someone. I mean come on, how many people need to die before society learns it’s lession, Don’t give idiots guns just because they ask for it! Thats like giving a baby a plastic sack to play with. you know if half an hour it’s going to die.
I’m fine with guns being somewhat easily accessible, my problem is the loop-holes that are scattered all across gun laws (specifically in the US). For example, if you purchase a firearm from a store they run a background check to make sure you aren’t a criminal more likely to misuse the weapon, however a purchase at a gun show does not require any testing at all, just the money in your pocket.
We don’t need more gun laws, we just need to more harshly punish those who are giving criminals easy access to them and fill in all the gaps in the current gun laws.
From what I heard, Gun Crime actually went up in Britain after the Gun Ban. Another thing, recently Gun Sales in the US went up, and Crime went down. Probably coincidences but I figured it was worth mentioning.
Banning guns doesn’t decrease gun crimes, because people who are capable of committing a gun crime won’t change their behaviour just because committing a crime is forbidden.
It’s hard as hell in Germany to get a gun. But you can easily access the black market and get an AKM assault rifle with 300 rounds of ammunition for ridiculous prices. If you plan to run amok, why bother about your budget? Just sell all your goods and get a shitload of guns from the cash you got. Then massacre your school class and shoot yourself, and you have had a whole lot of fun and excitement only for the prize of some worldly goods which you don’t even need anymore.
Gun bans are like anti-copying advertisements on bought DVDs. On rentable or retail DVDs in Germany there are reminders that downloading or copying is illegal. Of course these reminders are in the wrong place, cause they are reminding the legal buyer of the punishment for a crime he clearly didn’t commit.
If you download the same movie, the reminder is cut out and you don’t see it at all. Because people who deliberately commit crimes don’t care that they commit a crime, otherwise they wouldn’t commit it.
I don’t understand why anyone except for polices and military needs a gun. If you don’t allow anyone to buy a gun, noone need it. Also, I heard about this weird-ass american law, that you are allowed to shoot someone on your property if you don’t want them there. Is that true?
I don’t think it is that simple.
If a law like that would be meant to work you’d have to warn the unwanted people and ask them to leave your property first, instead of opening fire without warning.
What if a corrupt government decides to let military and police use their guns on their own civilian population?
The law is there basically for Americans to have the possibility to shoot back when government shoots at them. Or to throw over their government if it fucks things up. That Americans would rather shoot Abraham Lincoln and JFK instead of George W. Bush was not part of the deal. I think.
Almost. I’ve heard it like this, “Shoot them if they are running off with your children, but not your TV.”
That’s ridiculous. If they run off with my children, the last thing I’d do would be shoot at them, cause I could accidently hit my own children instead of the kidnappers. I’d rather shoot them if they run off with my TV, cause either I damage the TV, making it useless to them, or I shoot the thiefs, preventing them from stealing my TV. The likelihood of them damaging the TV when falling down upon being shot, however, is very high. So why shoot at all? Your TV is most likely to be unavailable to you anyway, whether you shoot or not. Either it is destroyed or stolen. If it is stolen, there is a chance of getting it back. If it is damaged, chances are high you will have to pay a lot of money to get a working TV again.
In both cases shooting would be very dumb.

As for guns I can’t find a legitmate purpose for anyone using them, it’s one of those things that if we all didn’t have, their’d be no reason for any one else to have

But seriously one way to make the gun thingy more under control is to have mentally test someone who wants/has a gun every single month, to make sure he doesn’t blow his/her/somebody’s brains out, wether it’s accidently or not.
Oh and let people who shoot other innocent people live their entire lives in jail. Not just 30 or 40 years.
