Graphics card - XFX HD5850 Black Edition or Saphire HD5850...

that’s just procrastination

I bought a decent case once and have been using it ever since.

I suppose you’re right. It just feels like it’ll be a real pain to take everything out and move it in to anew case, I’m always concerned I’ll damage something badly whilst moving things. I especially felt this when replacing the Motherboard.

I’ll see how things go with the new graphics card. If it doesn’t fit (even though it should) I’ll look in to getting a new case. If the temperatures are still bad, I’ll look in to getting a new case.

Hell…case recommendations anyone? :stuck_out_tongue:

NZXT Phantom.

Good choice getting the 6850 and passing on the older 5xxx series. I also recommend the NZXT Phantom, solid full-tower case and very cheap for what you’re getting.

£10?!! Damn Met, and i thought my case was cheap…

It looks pretty good I’ll give it that, but it costs over £100! And it doesn’t seem to come with a PSU, and I thought that was what usually pushed case prices up. :brow:

I’m probably missing something important. It does seem to have a lot of slots for fans etc.

I just checked and it looks like it was a little more, £13.99, so not quite as cheap as £10, but close. :stuck_out_tongue:

Metritutus, thats quite a bit more than what it costs in the US, but the graphics card you bought is also considerably more expensive than it is here. But the NZXT phantom is probably one of the cheapest quality full-tower cases you can buy… and you don’t really want to buy a case with a PSU in it unless the case is made by Corsair or another quality PSU brand.

Yeah, I was avoiding cases with a PSU in when looking for a case with for this PC because I wanted to buy a decent PSU.

I will bear this case in mind though when I next look to build my own PC.

I guess prices in the UK just suck. :frowning:

Met, shoulda waited, then I coulda showed you this! I’m sure he’d ship outside of the US. I know, because I’ve bought from him, and he did for me.

ok the only words of advice i can offer is this. Dont skimp out on the psu because if u do you may very well be replacing it next month. A 450watt psu will barely cut it. My system is a c2q q9650, msi cyclone radeon 4890. My 450watt coolermaster psu is on the fence.

Look at case reviews before making a decision. Tomshardware is a good resource. Dont be scared to touch your motherboard. Just make sure your not wearing woolen clothes and you should be fine lol. (anti-static strap is a must have)

Is it?..

My bro uses one, but, I’ve never had any problems.

that edit makes me look like a dumbass

if you dont have an antistatic wrist strap you gotta touch the side of the case (not the painted part) which is suprisingly difficult when your trying to install a cpu that cost you $700.

I hear touching the case only works if you have the powersupply plugged in to the wall but switched off so its only grounded.

I’m pretty sure there are no elements that can be damaged by a measly static charge. Not the ones you can touch at least.

[EDIT] Well, maybe if you’ve spent a week rubbing all over a wool carpet.

i’ve killed ram by petting a cat with it

I have a hunch it was not the static that killed said ram. How’s the cat?

my cat is fine, and it was definitely static
