Because giving Egypt tanks is more important than funding the education of our soldiers. Fucks.
wh–
come on.
Without the ability to go to poor communities and tell them its a good way to achieve social mobility how will the government convince people that their lives are worth risking for their petty conflicts? Its gonna be awfully tough to get new recruits.
This is fucked up. And I was starting to think the military was getting better when they lifted the ban on women in combat, but I guess not. Fuck.
No it won’t, because 'Murica.
Freedom and liberation of the socialist commies is what America does, they will still get all their backwater Land-of-the-frees, they might lose some of the more progressive citizens, but apparently the army figures they’ll still have enough 'Murica to drive those shiny new tanks regardless.
Not so much figuring there’s “'Murica,” more like the Obama administration is trying to make the sequester as painful as possible to make the Republicans who refused to compromise on the budget take flak from the veterans. It’s a rather despicable tactic, using Tuition Assistance to divide and conquer in such a way. However, it’s been the administration’s modus opperendi for some time, so I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m just sad for the people who were trying to use TA to get through college, because the GI bill won’t cover it.
There are other financial assistance programs that help the general student body, so the vets aren’t entirely out in the cold, but it’s a low, low, thing to do. As I stated before, providing foreign aid in vast amounts to countries who hate us instead of leaving our veterans’ education out of the political shitfest is incredibly despicable.
“Shiny new tanks”?? I Shoulda went SF… Unless they started handing out new tanks since I got out in Nov.
if your a big enough moron to be in the military in 2013 you probalby dont belong in university anyway
this is fucked up
I find this funny because most vets I’ve met in college have higher GPA than most people I met.
since nothing of value is achieved and the real murderin is done by robots now anyway if you really wanna go to a dersert and shit in a hole or bayonet a childs face or whatever you should have to pay to do that not win free fuckin college. although higher education should be free for everyone so idk.
Lol, ignorance level 1000. Can’t even shoot a round until fired upon, bayonets are phased out. Nothing is done by robots and infantry are a must.
Idi, stop trolling. This thread is about awful politicial situations and soldiers getting fucked by Uncle Sam, not about your personal crusade against active duty members of this forum. If you can’t be on topic, leave.
Its funny to see someone call someone ignorant while being ignorant of the fact that its fuckin Idi.
Im not kidding tho for reals. you know troops are more likely to die of suicide than by the enemy. motherfuckers are in more danger of their own conscience catching up to them than the people they are hired to kill and people wanna treat them like heroes. meanwhile the rate of birth defects in fallujah is up 500%
It’s not because what they did its because what they experienced like best friends being torn to pieces by a ied just because they where ahead of you in a convoy things like that are why. Coming home to your loved one cheatin on you. That is exactly why so many people come home depressed not because they retuned fire to someone tryin to kill them
Idi, I seem to recall you telling a member of this forum to, and I quote, “go step on an IED,” unquote. Justify it all you like, but you’ve got one hell of a chip on your shoulder about this. That comment may have gone away due to a mod’s intervention, but I saw that post.
i dont think its unreasonable for someone to be a little bent out of shape over at least hundereds of thousands of dead civilians and maybe find it hard to act cordially to those complicit in it especially on the internet where you can talk shit without someone trying to kill ya or whatever
I think there’s a song about that, called Whiskey Lullaby or something.
If it’s the conflicts you’re pissed about, Idi, blame the governments responsible, not their soldiers.
EDIT: Anyhoo, on topic, that really sucks about the tuition assistance cuts. I was initially a bit pleased when I heard about the US gov’t making cuts to military spending after the republicans refused to negotiate a budget, but I guess it never occurred to me that these cuts could/would affect the soldiers themselves, rather than just the amount of military might America had to push around.
