Sorry I’m off the religious debate here so it was new news for me.
Also [SARCASM][/SARCASM] tags isn’t a bad idea…
I like this idea.
me too
BM is delayed… …again!
i like it, too[/SIZE]
We all like it, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be in the mod
outside of scripted sequences, how would that even work. if you see a bullsquid you’re probably going have to fight it, not watch it drag away ragdoll after ragdoll.
I like this actually. In real life, a predator would feast on its victim in an obscured location.
Is it already too late to make suggestions?
Suggestions 1:
You all remember the toilet scene from the beginning? It was fun to annoy the scientists there, but wasn’t it weird, that both simply sat there forever?
It would be more realistic to have only one toilet taken with one scientist or guard and that you can annoy him again. But after a minute or after you put your HEV suit on, he should flush, come out and wash his hands and then go back to work.
In my opinoin: No big deal and easy to implement.
Suggestion 2:
The restrooms in general…In the entire game, I saw only one fucking restroom…I mean, does everybody who is working in Black Mesa have a bladder of an elephant, so that only one toilet is needed in the entire facility? Or is the administrator (Dr. Breen) already collaborating with the Combine and testing a suppression field against pressure? Or are scientists simply using their test tubes?
I only have to say: Really bad working conditions!
Also I want to add, that the restroom we saw seemed to be unisex, which is weird as hell. OK, for the locker room it would be a big change and not worth in the end, but if you ever decide to add new restrooms, they should be divided into Men and Women.
And I missed urinals by the way!
Suggestion 3:
I always missed meal trays with food in the cafeterias (Levels: Office Complex and We’ve got hostiles)
That usually only happens to me when I’ve had to much to drink :meh:
As for your suggestions all fair comments. Part of the remake is to make the facility appear more ‘real’ / make sense so I’m sure part / all of your suggestions are implemented already!
I’d be concerned that two of your suggestions are to do with toilets…
I’m not fussed about the two scientists in there. It can take a long time. Are you saying that you stood outside the toilet for an hour just to see if a dude came out? Make them male only by all means - that makes sense.
I must say though, I did appreciate the detail that Blue Shift went into with the security guards’ changing rooms - the shower heads and toilets, the towels, the working taps and hand dryer - it made it all feel more real. Going round a room and interacting and experimenting with the objects should be part of the joy of any FPS, even if it is a changing room.
also, the pics show that there are more than one bathroom now
Which pictures are these?
cbf to wade through the media right now. But you can see a men’s room and a women’s room in the crowbar sequence during the trailer
It happens if the bullsquid gets non-bite-size prey prior to engaging you, and you don’t shoot it or get too close. Also, once it’s dragged the carcass to its final destination (a nice corner, its private lair, or its homely spawn point), it will be hostile on sight with the knowledge its food is secure.
The bullsquid had a surprised-hop animation in HL1 for when the player would catch it off-guard. Being preoccupied with food is the most common reason for being off-guard.
This is a facility that leaves copious amounts of ordinance around, has rooms that can only be accessed through vents or conveyor belts, leaves giant pits of radiation in main areas and has a disturbing lack of handrails in all areas.
Quick-kick
I am the Kick off ninja that kills people who live in a place with no handrails

That was one of the things that I loved about Deus Ex. they went the extra mile creating realistic environments that made the game world seem like a living world, with rest rooms for both sexes in most public areas, eating areas all over the place, sleeping quarters where needed. They really went all out when mapping that game.
You should play Duke Nukem 3d, then
Even though it’s been made fifteen years ago, it still has the most interactive environment I’ve ever seen in a computer game. I’m actually playing it right now.
I’m not just talking about interactivity. I am talking about a full game world with all of the pieces in the right places. Houses were built like houses. Office buildings were built like office buildings. City streets were built like city streets.
And Deus Ex had tons more interactivity than Duke Nukem, with all of the hidden things laying around waiting for you to find them and use them.
