Engine Limitations = Continuity
The zombies bled yellow probably because they couldn’t make the headcrab bleed yellow and the body bleed red. Even when you shoot them, it leaves a red blood decal on the model. So I think that, if possible, the developers should make the body bleed red and the crab bleed yellow (it’s also a good visual indicator that you’d gotten a headshot).
So you’re saying that due to an engine limitation Valve made zombies bleed yellow in all areas, which indicates continuity (Indeed, they made Source zombies do the same), and because of this devs should change this to make the bodies have red blood? :brow:
You’ve contradicted yourself there.
Or they made the body bleed yellow because the body bleeds yellow. It’s really just a minor detail and should probably be kept the same as in all other Half-Life games.
Make it bleed rendered nodraw textures.
:3
Technically, it’s yellowish green.
Whether they bleed red, yellow, or a mix, I’d like to see the hit decals be the same colour as the blood being spewed out. Especially so if they bleed a mix- red blood on a headcrab looks like crap.
Also, could you try to find a way to code the headcrab release to make the crab have any blood decals from the zombie’s headcrab? that’s odd as well, seeing a wound disappear.
That’s not technical at all.
They do, try shotgunning a zombie in the chest in HL2.
The Zombie blood should be orange because, logically, red+yellow= Orange
Its not blood, its dripping ichor, a staple of any good horror story.
Red decals on body, yellow decals on wall.
Well if you punched a hole through a corpse you’d expect the flesh to be red, but that doesn’t mean the blood has to be the same colour.
Our innards get their red color from the blood. If the blood is yellow, so should the innards.
Yeah, but most corpses of those scientists have only had yellow blood coursing throught their veins for 2 days at the most.
but there are zombies less then 5 mins after you get out of the camber
Why would a headcrab have its blood in the zombie?
That’s like asking why does a pimp have his semen in a woman.
Exactly, that’s not much time to recolour all your flesh.
It’s an alien that fucks your brain and makes you think people stole your icing, who cares if it changes the colour of your blood?
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
