Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

I’m just saying the ability could be there, but difficult for the AI to succeed. They have to sneak up and get in a perfect position behind you, not easy to do if you are aware of them. Even a time feature could be implemented; they have to be “behind” you for “x seconds” before they can attack. Basically the assassins should force you to watch your back and constantly check your 6. This increases the tension. It would be sweet to turn around and unexpectedly face a knife wielding assassin. Or to unexpectedly hear an assassin decloak directly behind you (if it makes noise), causing you to shit you pants.

Besides, I’m sure real life assassins, which the game is attempting to mimic, strive to insta-kill their targets, not play games with them and perhaps give them a chance to survive. IMO, the HL assassins should have been more difficult and deadly, but in smaller numbers.

I’d rather see the game sooner however.

My girlfriend is on a 8 week trip to africa and she is coming home within 10 days. Now would be the perfect time to relese!111 :wink:

I won’t argue endlessly about it, but it’s not a huge change. Just add a silencer onto an MP5 and change the sound - to my understanding it’s as simple as that. Gameplay-wise it only makes it harder, but not massively so. In light of the late stage of the mod I thought this was a perfectly reasonable suggestion. What pissed me off so much was that you were giving a dismissive answer on behalf of the devs, the intelligence of which was clearly baseless.

Yet again, gameplay > realism. Besides, I’m yet to see or hear of black suited, backflipping “assasins” in real life.

I believe the intention of valve was to make a stealthier and more deadlier human enemy. Oh and notice I chose the word ‘mimic’ in my previous post. The fact is assassins kill, and as quickly and unexpectedly as possible. Slitting throats is quick, efficient, and stealthy and these backflipping videogame assassins could easily pull it off.

And yes, I believe the gameplay can be improved with the assassins possessing an insta-kill ability. It all depends on how such a feature would be implemented, but its really not a big deal because its just a suggestion probably not worth the development time.

Valve tried that with Hydra, and players didn’t like that.

Then surely just a shot to the head would do the job better? Slitting people’s throats isn’t exactly military practise. From a gameplay perspective it would suck. Players hate being killed by something unseen. You might feel that you’d love it, but the majority of players feel otherwise. If you’re killed by something unexpectedly and with no way to defend yourself, you feel understandably cheated. Playing games isn’t about being realistic - the odds have to be highly in your favour to achieve the main goal of games which is to enjoy them.

I have some sugestions for the game (in case BMS team is still working on it) but probably most of them are already done.

For the houndeye: Those blue stripes on theyr backs could shine whyle they charge the shockwave attack. (perhaps a different movement animation too, instead of the original they had. more like a dog instead of a jumpy bean thingy)

For the teleportation: Use a green lightning effect and some kind of wave that breacks crates or other phys objects and damage the player.

When dying: What about a first person ragdoll camera so we can see the arms or the legs some time and changing the HEV suit’s death beep for a heart beat slowing down like with the teleportation at the begining?

well for now I’ve run out of more ideas but I think it would be easier to suggest any thing if we knew what kind of complications (if there’s any) the BMS team is finding so far.
I say goodbye saying keep it up like that ppl there are many of us waiting for this mod to be released

Sure, that works as well, could be a bullet to the noggin. Basically my suggestion was to just make the assassins more deadly and challenging by adding a close quarters, instant-kill attack, but I get the impression that no one else agrees lol. It would technically be a trade off though. The assassin has to attempt to sneak in and get close to perform an instant kill, to which you can respond with a dbl shotgun blast to the face :smiley:

They were just expecting one or two shots to suffice, like for an average person.
