You can only guard boxes of crap for so long before you get bored.
What, the usual tact of “let’s make things appear wherever the player can’t see” isn’t good enough for you?

I think you should add some destructible environnement, especially on epic scenes like this one. Just imagine how marvelous it would be if some sandbags flew away and part of the fences break due to the explosion.
That would lower performance and require too much work, I would think.
L4D have many of these effects (exploding gas station, airport crash) and don’t require a high range PC.
But those are not happening in the same way as he was suggesting. The events in L4D you are talking about are scripted, while the explosion of flammable crates is not. Besides, BM uses the OB engine while L4D has a newer one, so the devs are limited to what the OB engine can do.
OMG. I know this is old, but moveable tarps were CONFIRMED? When? That is REALLY cool! I can’t remember seeing this in any of the Episodes. Isn’t that a new technology for the OB engine?
Oh ok, I didn’t know that.
Check the new youtube videos.
Understood, but I’m not that good with computer stuff.
I know what a sprite is and a little about polygons and scripting, but when it comes to coding and development, I’m like a gibbering fish attempting to perform brain surgery.
I like that analogy.
If there’s a site or something you could suggest to teach me this stuff, please direct me.
i found out about most if this stuff on fpsbanana = google it , it explains how to replace models , sprites , everything , so i understood what they’re made of and what their role is , good place to start ,
also , someone made a good remarc when sayd that in a freezer if you shoot bullets and shit ice particles fly all around , it’s a good suggestion no?
That’s probably already been implemented, as it’s really easy by simply specifying the ice’s surfaceprop as a predefined ice material that has premade ice gibs that fly off when you hit it. It also has premade ice sounds and you slide on it.
I chased a shotgunner up the stairs to that room, and the guard shot the crap out of him. We could assume that they are either holding back until they can get some backup to deal with the security guard, or that they had just arrived when you turn up on the scene. With the airstrikes tearing through the facility I would want to be getting inside quickly too, screw checking top floors.
Human skulls on the zombies.
In HL1 they the headcrabas on the zombies had the vague outline of a human skull on it, to imply they were melting together. It looked fucking badass.
hahaha zing.
What new YouTube vids?
Edit: Nevermind
You’ve wounded my mindpenis.
how about when the marines are firing and coming at you in surface tension when you re in the ventilation shaft and whe nthe dropship files over, you should be able to see into the plane/helicopter thingy and see more marines waiting to get a chance of killing freeman
True, but it didn’t work out that way…
I can’t find them.
Ragdolls were introduced nearly a decade ago, so not really. Remember the floppy mattress from HL2?
In Questionable ethics, you can use the sterilizer in the room with the headcrabs and a grunt shows up. Yet when you go through that hallway, barney is just standing there. I think that’s a bit unrealistic, maybe he should drop down from one of the beams in the ceiling to explain how he did’nt get attacked by the grunt.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
